Kinja'd!!!

This is my biggest takeaway from the reaction I'm getting to my KW photos. No one's talking about the Alvis or the MG or the Bel Air, but I am getting called some very unsavory things for sharing a picture of the Reatta I saw. I don't get it.

I'd love to have a Reatta. The 3800 is bulletproof and what a cool cruiser it'd be. I'm a weird car enthusiast, though. I get way more excited about weird cars like Reattas and such than I do Lambos and Ferraris and blah blah blah.

So you'd be an asshole to me too? I thought you were better than that. Seriously, I just lost respect for you, Snap.

My dad owned a Reatta up until about 2 years ago. Beyond being quite impressed and surprised at the fact that it used a touchscreen in its center dash when even my 2013 vehicle doesn't have one - I have no strong feelings about the Reatta one way or another.

Too expensive and complicated when new, but I think it's held up nicely in the power/design department. Interior though......phew...talk about outdated..

Haters gonna hate. I always thought the Reatta had lovely lines. For me, the Reatta is a series of "Oooh!....oh." moments — as in "ooh! It's a two-seater! Oh. It only comes in auto" "ooh, it's a convertible with flip-up headlamps! Oh. It's a front-drive"

The bottom line: It's not a screaming performance car, but I don't think that a Jalop car necessarily is. It's a rare-ish, unusual car that has weird technology crammed into it, it's something that a lot of people haven't heard of, it looks good, and a lot of it was hand-assembled.

I say it's pretty damn Jalop.

oh no, you're reading a bit much into my response. I do not like the Reatta, but I wouldn't be one to shit on the man's car. I would simply not comment on it.

You've seen me around for a very long time and I hold myself to some high standards. I won't bash someone for their love of something in particular.

Sorry for the confusion

it was a interesting car. something i would not mind buying as a project and put a 3800 supercharged engine in. but it was not a spectacular car in no way. it was overpriced and subpar to many other cars on the market. the styling was interesting. but performance did not meet the styling.

I've had experience with one of those "Gentlemen" before. If you click on his page, half his comments are just rude stuff on people's posts. He also seems to hold Oppo in a low regard. Just ignore him, I guess.

BTW the Reatta is awesome.

Also, I plan on sharing a picture of an Allante I saw a few days ago shortly, and now I'm a bit concerned.

You'll have that. I've posted about fwd GM stuff on the front page before, and gotten gunned down for it. I think it's a cool car, and the other cars you posted were cool, too. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ah, gotcha, OK. Didn't understand your meaning the first time around; I thought you were saying something else. Totally cool that you're not into Reattas. Not everyone's into Phaetons either, but everyone is entitled to their opinions, especially car people. ;)

Posting Reatta pictures makes you less than human. You should probably sell your car and get off this site.

The Reatta was the top of the technological heap when it was introduced. It deserves far more respect than folks give it. Styling is kind of plain today, but still looks better than many of what the Japanese luxury brands give us.

But Phaetons are complete shit though. They're no Suzuki Every Joy Pop Turbo, you know? Now there's a fine automobile!

Jag, old buddy, all I can say is this -

The front page has long since been ruled by morons and troglodytes that enact a sad, yet somehow comic internet iteration of the principles found in Lord of the Flies. They are children, pure and simple, with little depth and knowledge or intelligence, and a place where they are given nearly free reign to demonstrate just how moronic they are, applauding themselves each other in a giant circle-jerk the entire time.

This sad truth is a lasting remnant of the Wert days, where volume was king, and quality was sometimes sacrificed. It won't be going away anytime soon.

Knowing that, don't let it bother you. Just watch in subtle amusement as the morons demonstrate just childish and moronic they actually are.

You know, putting a 3800 supercharged into a Reatta is actually a fun idea. It still wouldn't be a rocket ship by today's standard, but combined with a little suspension upgrade, it might just make a quirky fun runabout.

To each their own. 80's American cars, for the most part, don't do it for me.

I have to say that I have a soft spot for the late '80s-early '90s American realtor-bait luxury coupes (Reattas and Allantes).

I'm not sure why; I'll never own one, but they always make me look twice.
