I've been having constant issues with my car....I've reflashed the ECM 5 times now with 5 different known good tunes, I've replaced Both MAP sensors, MAF sensor, intake, cam chains, everything I can think of......Still no start.
Its an intermittent issue by the way, I drove it to work one day, and then went to leave work, no start......It will start one day, then a second later no start......I'm getting fuel, spark, and air or else the car would never start. there are no strange codes I'm getting that werent there before.....Anyone want to make some attempt at helping me out?
Its my 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo.

Take it to the dealer? But it has got an Opel motor right?

If it's intermittent I'd guess it's electronic but hard to get more specific than that without seeing the car.

Sadly I don't think abything you've replaced so far would be the cause. On the days you can't get it to start what does it do?
For instance, does the cluster and everything power up? Does the starter turn over at all? Does it try to crank but never fires? Do you have two keys and does it start with either key?

Intermittently sticky butterfly on the throttle body? Assuming you have checked this, though, but since it takes all of 2 minutes to check, open it up and give it flick during the next no start. (Only mention because this happened to me with the same symptoms, not on a Cobalt SS mind you)

any spark or injector firing (check with noids) at all? If not maybe a crank/cam sensor?

Could be crank, I am getting fuel and spark, I have tested this multiple ways.

Dealer will refuse......They also will charge out of the ass.

Checked the TB, its electronic, it opens properly and closes properly, I physically tested it with my hand as well as witrh a scan tool

Does the same with either key, everything powers up, starter turns just fine, cranks, but never fires, will almost seem to fire off but never actually does.

I have enough to deal with myself without diagnosing electronics haha. Got a CV boot and new bleed nipples to go on a car this week. Then some rust repair soon too.

I'd almost agree with the cam/crank sensor then. I've never worked on any Chevy 4-bangers, but pretty much any other manufacturer seens to eat those over time. If you're getting fuel, spark, and air then something is just not letting them fire at the same time.

WTF Dealer?

If you are getting fuel and spark something is triggering at least. Are there both a cam and crank sensor on that engine? Does it even try to start or just crank over? You verified fiel rail pressure?

under his hood is pretty heavily altered from stock. A dealer wouldn't take the job, at least not by a book rate job.

i'm down with these suggestions - something isn't letting the spark fire at the right time, which points to cam or crank sensor.
I have seen a particular GM model that would have the cam sensor's wire get brittle and break inside the insulation, so there was no visible break, yet on multiple vehicles the same wire was bad.

That is what I thought because not many know how to work on an Opel motor.

best of luck!

Rail pressure is proper 500psi and stuff. Even when the engine does fire it runs the 3 thousand psi it wants and needs.
I'm going to go and target the crank and cam sensors. The odd thing is those are all fairly new, the harness is the original harness, so more than likeley it is the harness that is fucked up.
