My 2014 Elantra has just developed a problem tonight. I was backing up my driveway, when the car began shaking, making a grumbling sound, and felt like it lost power for a second. I pulled out of my driveway and tried backing up again about 5 more times, and it kept on repeating the problem. The car was leaking what appeared to be a clear fluid which stained the garage floor. It drives fine going forward, and only has 4,000 miles. Do y'all have any idea as to what may be wrong with it?
Thanks

Hyundai's have good warranties. Have it taken to the dealer, they can deal with it, lol

Manual or automatic? Was the 'grumbling' happening when you shifted into gear, or when you were moving? If it's an automatic, have you checked the tranny fluid?

It's an auto . I think it has a sealed transmission so I can't check the fluid.

since you have low miles, brake fluid is usually that clear color. It could be transmission fluid too but I don't know if your elantra is a manual. At this point if you're under warranty, I would rather tow it to the shop than jump to conclusions.

I guess I'll have to take it (or have it towed in one monday). I hope I can get them to give me a loaner, as I'm not looking forward to driving around in a 1994 Volvo with no A/C in 100 degree heat.

Would it be normal for that to only present that in reverse?

The not driving it part sounds like a general consensus. It's an :( automatic. I guess I'll have to wait till monday to get it into the dealer.

Interesting; I've never heard of such a thing.
It sounds to me like your tranny fluid is leaking out, and the torque converter blades are splashing in it. Time for a trip to the dealer.

Fun fun fun. I guess I'll have to suck it up and go to the local dealer which I hate.

There is no dip stick as it is a sealed transmission.

Tow it in today and leave the keys in the drop box. You'll be first in line Monday morning. Good luck.
