It's a small series in the southeast that is a stepping stone to Formula Drift, the big league of US Drifting. Yes, I know Formula Drift is not very big, but all things being relative, it's big in the field of drifting in the US.
StreetWise Drift had an event at Virginia International Raceway today.
There wouldn't be much for me to say here, but I have met a half a dozen of the two dozen or so competitors, and they are all very nice people, reasonably broke due to their drifting habit, and reasonably skilled. Three of the drivers that I have been at a number of other events with are close friends with each other and part of the same KG Made team. I've enjoyed watching them drift at past events and in prior events in this series.
Here is the fun part. So it works out that they swept the podium. Alex Youe, David Campo, and Sean Morgan took first through third today. The track looked very difficult and I'd like to think that that forced the skilled drivers to the top.
Hats off to Alex, David, and Sean, and their sponsors and supporters. Quite an accomplishment.
