See the dark blue New Edge GT Mustang? I bought it when I was 17. Before I found it, I was set on getting some sort of muscle car. A 79' Trans-Am to be specific. Practical and safe, I know. My parents had other plans. Even though it was my money, I had to get something with less power and better gas mileage. Eventually, I found my car. After much debate with my parents, I convinced them to let me buy it. Yes, it had more power stock and worse gas mileage than they wanted me to have, but it was finally mine. I was beyond grateful to my parents who decided to take a chance and trust me. The only thing I wanted to do when I first bought it was drive it, wash it, wax it, repeat. Four years later, I still have it and it looks nothing like it did when I first bought it, but I've taken crd of it and babied it as much as I can. Last week, I noticed a blue 1999 v6 Mustang across the street. It reminded me of when I was in the hunt for a car. I can't even recall how many v6 mustangs I looked to buy when I was a teenager. As it turns out, the kid across the street just turned 16. Yesterday, I was talking to his father about it and how he got it. Apparently, the father bought it for his son for $4,000. When he brought it home, he expected his boy to be ecstatic about it. I mean come on, I would have flipped if my dad brought a Mustang home for me one day, even if it was a v6. But when the dad arrived home, the kid couldn't care less. He's not even interested in driving it. I've seen him get in it once and that's it. It actually kind of hurts me to see a 16 year old kid not even express interest in his first car. I expressed how I felt towards his father after he told me this. His response? "Yeah, my kid is really weird."

Wow, That is strange. Who doesn't express interest in their first car? I sure did.

I'm at the debating stage with my parents for a Mazda MX-6/Ford Probe. They don't take the evidence of me keeping a 250 HP van under control seriously, or even a BMW 3 series for that matter.

Can't wait till entitled Mc'Douchecopter across the street enters the real world. Finding out no one within it besides mom and dad give two flaming shits about what he likes to drive will be soul crushing.

I remember having a 'I can't BELIEVE how crazy that kid is' when, on Breaking Bad, Walt Jr. doesn't get a muscle car, but a brand new car, nonetheless. I never 'got' a car. In fact, I had to fight with my older brother to borrow my Dad's 10-year-old (1974) Toyota Corolla wagon on a weekend night. Fucking kids, man.

My Parents bought me an '86 Celica automatic with 92 horsepower for 2800 bucks when I turned 16 back in 1992. I can tell you I was the happiest little kid alive that day. Freedom, glorious freedom. I drove that car everywhere and back again.

Was it because it was a v6 or because he has no interest in driving anything? My good friends daughter had no interest in driving at all when she was 16, she only got her license to commute to college when she was almost 19.

I feel like Walt Jr. deserved it though.

I don't even think the kid knows what a v6 is. He's just not interested. I think he's one of those people who would buy a brand new Camry. In Beige.

Some kids are like that. My nephew got his temps a few months ago when he turned 15 1/2 and literally counted down the days until he could get it for 4 years. One of his friends got a Mustang and another is perfectly content with letting others do the driving, no interest at all. It makes no sense to me either as I looked forward to the day I could drive starting at 9 or 10.

I 'deserved' a car, too. :(

Even that white stripe on the hood is good for 25 hp!

Nice GT! Ecstatic was an understatement when I got my Mach. Finding what I wanted was not easy. I desperately wanted a V8 Mustang with a manual, but everything I found was in such for poor shape for so much money. I looked at other things like Mazda's, 350's, RX-8's and Firebirds (Couldn't find one) but all of them had a bad clutch, was abused or had some other weird issue. I was preparing to look at cars I hate. Later I found the Mach on eBay out of no where. We looked at it that night and it was in insane shape for 10K, it looked brand new! I felt so much anxiety, we didn't know if we could get it. But three days later my parents asked me to get the mail, and there it was! I still can't believe I got a Mach to this day, I got so lucky. Now all of my friends are getting brand new trucks and V6 Mustangs (That they don't pay for).... I don't care though, I got a Mach, a car I dreamt of. I would have been fine wit a V6, I would still be excited. You would never hear me complain of bad gas mileage!

Got an 87 Dodge Charger for my first car. Unbelievably bad, slow, ugly, played some stupid song when the blinker was applied and for some reason it had the ride height of an AMC Eagle without all the 4x action. Most fun car I've ever owned. Damn thing could not be killed.
