I've been sucked into the Porsche car configurator, meaning that nobody will be seeing my for days to come.

Despite the 1 million variations of the 911, Porsche does NOT yet offer my dream 911

If I was buying a new 911 what I would really, really want is a GT3 that does have back seats, and I would want the plaid cloth seats. And I would want it to be stick.

Now that I said what I want in an ideal world I'll say what I'd actually get in the real world.

If I was buying a new 911 I would get a C2S with ONLY these options:

1. Parking sensors

2. Upgraded stereo

3. Heated seats

That's literally it. I wouldn't get PDK. I wouldn't get PTV. I wouldn't get upgraded seats that adjust a million different ways. I wouldn't get a sunroof.

The only way to keep the cost of the 911 from going crazy is to not get options.

Eh. I've seen the Macan in black, white, and silver. It looked seriously amazing in black and white. Silver completely ruined it. I REALLY want to see it in that blue.

Sounds nice, I'd do probably just about the same.

Seats that you adjust a million different ways don't really do anything for me. You never get it just right, you always have to adjust the "quarter inch part of your thigh" so it doesn't feel uncomfortable and then everything else is not comfortable. Up, Down, Forward and back are the only controls that I need.

Haha, Nice! In both of the A4s that I've owned I've hard the 4 way plus those air cushion things and they've suited me well.

I'm hoping to join the Porsche ownership club in the next few years though :)

Probably starting with a 911 Carerra from the early 2000's.

Alright, does anyone else have a problem with it on OS X? When I try to use the 3D configurator (which is the only way to use it, otherwise you can't see any of the options hardly) it usually crashes the system. And when I say crash, I mean it freezes the screen and the machine responds to no input, and everything locks up. The only way to fix it is a hard reset. Really upsetting. Seems to happen in every browser, and at random time intervals. Sometimes I can be in it for hours (yes, yes I have done this) and no problem...other times it happens as soon as it switches over. Once it even happened in 2D mode but haven't been able to replicate that.

So until I figure this out, the Porsche configurator is less awesome for me.

honestly it's worth it.

My 911 is the only car I have that I'm very attached to. It's not even that fast. Or that usable. Or very luxurious. But it's just so damn hard to imagine living without it.

When I first leased it at the end of 2010 I was worried that I'd regret it. I had never spent that much one one car (and still haven't). But I didn't regret it. I only regretted not doing it sooner!
