During our visit to Colorado's Red Rock Amphitheater, one of the friends we were with began chucking stones off the trail. My brother accidentally walked in front of her, and got nailed in the side if the head with a rock from two feet away. It turned out not to be too serious, but the staff member who was on the scene called the medics. Which, because it was a slow day in a small town, turned out to mean an ambulance, an off-road fire truck, and three cop cars. He's fine, but this has so far been a major curve ball thrown at our vacation plans. Hopefully no big deal though.

And yes, I waited to take pictures until I knew for sure he ws okay.

I was going to say something like that, but I chose not to rub salt in a wound. As I tell my young boys, accidents are usually unavoidable. Throwing rocks in a crowded place is stupid, and this "accident" was entirely avoidable. This was just dumb, and I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt. Fortunately, she didn't hit a stranger. That could have escalated very quickly and turned into a vacation-ender.
