This is a verifiable fact. Would anyone like to help me verify this? Thanks.

Stop giving me bad ideas...
So many F355s under $50K

Rusto, if you buy an F355 I will sign a contract stating that I won't rev it above 8k when I spontaneously borrow it for the month. If that alone isn't incentive enough, I don't know what is.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:28 |

Haha what will the penalty be if you breach the contract?
And remember revving it isn't the problem. Per Doug just taking the car to the grocery store will cause the engine to throw its pistons out, possibly killing us in the process

The penalty shall be two months of accessing only the other cars in your garage. I can probably deal with such a punishment, but it wouldn't be easy. I promise not to get any groceries! I must fast so that my soul can be filled with the holiness of F355.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:32 |

Haha that sounds like a fair penalty, I think
Now I keep looking at F355s for sale

DO IT, YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!!

I'm going to cry. It's just so incredible. I am not worthy of such a machine. I am over $40,000 short of being worthy. I need to make more worthiness, but I am using it to perfect my lowly C4...
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:36 |
|
It's not a lowly C4! The C4 is the perfect garage mate for the F355! One is American, one is Italian. Both are V8. Both have 2 seats. They would be buddies.

arghhhh i want to
fuck it who cares if the engine breaks every other month. it sounds so damn amazing when running

I can afford a 308 if I go into joint ownership with my father and we sell all cars and find a bargain magnum mobile. I just can't deal with the prospect of being limited to a 911 and M3 ;) (Shit, though... if my parents stayed together the total sum of their cars' worth would be enough for an F355 and I could go home to drive it!)
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:39 |

308 with widebody kit!!!!!!!!!!
and a supercharger
it's the regular man's 288 GTO!
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:41 |

And this one has an aftermarket exhaust.
Get your ass on a Southwest plane tomorrow afternoon to Air-eye-Zone-Uh and look at it. Then buy it.

Fuck it I'll drive the E46 to AZ tomorrow and use it as the down payment!

"What is this american junk doing next to the greatness that is me, F355?"
*F355 self-incinerates*

This is a very prudent plan. I approve.

I've been sticking to the pipe dream of putting an ESS supercharger in my mom's N52 E89 Z4, which is as close to Ferrari power delivery as I can imagine out of a modern BMW, but a supercharged 308 sounds mighty attractive to me. Not to hard to work on but still a cool car. Dammit, even my prospective ferrari is a C4... the C4 of Maranello.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:50 |
|
hahaha it is the C4 of Maranello!
Which makes it awesome...
Don't supercharge the Z4 because it's not yours. You don't want to cause problems for your Mom or have her experience unplanned oppo due to all the power
![]() 07/11/2014 at 00:52 |

no way
they wouldn't hate each other
they'd probably try to mate and produce an Iso Grifo offspring

This would make my life complete.

Haha I'm thinking long term future, as in when she wants to get rid of the Z4. The N52 is a pretty drool worthy engine, but a supercharger would satisfy power deficits without changing the linear power delivery. I'd never spend money on any of my relatives' cars, but at least I'm able to influence the occasional decision! The C4's targa top and wrap-around black trim were both inspired by the 308 due to magnum P.I.'s popularity, interestingly. Who said GM can't be incredibly cheesy? (no one)
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:00 |
|
Plus the blown N52 would still sound awesome!
I didn't know the C4's targa top was inspired by the P.I. machine!

How much are testicles worth, again? I remember some story of a 370Z funded by the sale of them — the guy had the right idea, but he made the wrong purchase.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:03 |
|
Haha at least a modern pantera, right? Let's try to store compatible cars together and drive their offspring.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:05 |
|
This is a great business idea! Let's try to breed cars together and sell the exotic offspring. Just like making designer dog mixes!
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:05 |

I got a friend with a TR, but that's not what you're looking for.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:08 |

The N54 is quite an impressive powerplant and is easily tunable, but there's nothing like a more efficient and reliable engine (selling points here) that weighs little and wants you to make it scream to 7k RPM all the time! It would make over 350 whp, so the need for more power would probably be gone. And when the C4 development process was still ongoing, T-tops suddenly fell out of style when Magnum P.I. came out. That's the reason for the need for more structural rigidity and therefore wide door sills and the "fall in, climb out" access to the seats. The car provides a pretty poor driving experience when you go topless (no rigidity whatsoever), which I'm sure many C4 drivers take to a new level.

As someone who operates on Miami Vice, I would beg to differ! Truthfully, the only Ferraris that don't have the effect of Viagra on me are the ones following the F355 and F50. Have you ridden in the TR?
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:13 |
|
The lack of rigidity with the top off probably just makes it more fun on public roads! You can only go so fast on public roads anyways...
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:14 |
|
Exactly! First, let's combine a maserati with a K-car.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:15 |
|
We need to make this happen!
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:16 |

Aw, fuck. I will probably always epitomize a black F355 thanks to the high school rule.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:17 |
|
This is probably true, but come to Washington DC and we'll see what your definition of "roads" becomes! Combine that with a wet noodle chassis and rock-hard suspension, and you've just turned your clunker corvette into modern art... haha
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:18 |
|
What's the high school rule?
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:19 |
|
Three words: Rich. Corinthian. Leather.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:19 |

The cars you loved in high school are the cars you will always put on pedestals.

Wet noodle chassis and rock hard suspension?
Sounds... interesting!
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:22 |
|
Oh! I should have figured that out a bit faster. Naturally this is true.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:25 |
|
It definitely is! I can't imagine driving an '84 Z51... that redefined a washboard ride. It needs a few structural members and better shocks/springs to really feel like a well engineered sports car, but they did fine on a smooth track (which is how GM bragged about having a car superior to X, Y, and Z european sports cars). With the top on, though, it's rigid enough to give you decent handling ability.

I don't really want kids, but that's not really a part of my body I want to give up...
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:28 |

Same here, really. Put me in that car down a twisty road, though, and I'd be forced to put a little thought into it before wondering what I was thinking. I'll try at least reasonably hard to accumulate some money before giving up!
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:31 |

I will own one someday. I remember first playing the original Project Gotham Racing around Christmas 2001. It was there that I specced a green F355 Spider, and from then on I was in love. Since then it's been my realistic bucketlist car.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:34 |

They are achingly perfect, but what hurts more is the fact that by the time I'll have saved up enough to buy one today, they will be worth 3x the amount. PGR is definitely an enabler for me, too... make mine a green F355 spider with a tan interior, with plenty of water in the passenger's seat to make up for the inevitable salivation resulting from driving the car
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:43 |

WTF is wrong with kinja today?
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:46 |

Not sure! Someone had replied to me but their comment didn't show up, and my reply to you didn't show up either. Drives me crazy...
![]() 07/11/2014 at 01:48 |

Seems completely random. Fuckin monkeys.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 02:01 |

Yep. Green and Tan interior is the way to go.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 02:10 |

Suspiciously, the same price as an 370Z.

ohhhhhhhh myyyy godddddd as in 'a new clutch at 17k miles wtf'????
![]() 07/11/2014 at 10:25 |

Yes, but I don't really remember it that well because it was the same day I bought my car and learned how to drive stick.
![]() 07/11/2014 at 14:53 |

I didn't even see that. Definitely not cool. Either one of the owners didn't know how to drive stick properly or the clutch's design was poor.
I know the F1 clutches can need replacement that soon. But this is the stick...
