Did not expect to find that. I'm about 4 months behind on my Sebring pictures, and just came across this. This is going over the giant bump right when you turn onto the front straight.

So is this from hitting the bump or is the front set this high in compensation for the bump?

That's from hitting the bump. I can't tell in the picture exactly, but it's either just before the front end goes airborne, or just after and the instant before it goes to full compression.

Okay, cool! I've only been to Watkins Glen and the only time you can really get something like this is in the inner loop. I got the C7.R three wheeling through there. I thought it was a great picture.

I dig. There are definitely a few places you can get lucky and catch things. I didn't have a ton of luck catching any airborne shots in that spot, just because of where I was standing and how they came around the last turn.

There are other places on the track where things like this are easy to catch every lap. (I say easy, and when I went back to look through pictures...I didn't have as many that were as awesome as I'd hoped.)

Yeah, I hear you there. Sometimes those LCD screens play with your eyes and make them look better than they are. What do you shoot with? This was down in the toe of the boot. It's a great place to shoot.

Ain't that the truth! There are times that on a 3" screen I think I'm the next Ansel Adams (of racing)....then I get home and I question if I have early stage Parkinson's. Those were both with my 7D and a 70-200 2.8. You?

I have a Nikon D3100. All on track were with the 55-200 4-5.6. Its my first SLR. I got some really good shots. I enjoy motorsport photography. It's fun and challenging but also very rewarding when done right.

I shot with a Canon Rebel XSi for about 4 years, then upgraded to the 7D before I went to the Rolex 24 in 2013. I just rent lenses for events, as I can't justify the outlay to buy the big stuff when it's just going to sit for 90% of the year.

Bingo. Anyone can go out and point a camera on auto, or with a shutter speed of 1/5000 and get a shot they're happy with. It's better when it's a shot other people are happy with, and that takes some skill to complete.

My lens came with th me camera so it wasn't really an extra cost. The only other lens I've gotten after was the 35 1.8. That's a great lens for Nikon. Canon has a pretty good 35mm I've heard.
