Kinja'd!!!

I was asked about a month back to put of a large chunk of my money to own part of a classic Corvette. I naturally said wyes being I'm a 16 year old boy in hopes I would be able to drive it. I wound up owning a portion of the most powerful thing I will probably ever be able to own. A 1970 Corvette 454 LS5 390hp 500ftlbs of torque. 4 speed, t-tops, manual steering/brakes. Nothing makes you feel more like a man. All matching numbers. Rebuilt original quadrajet carb. The thing drives great, pulls hard. It's great. I'm sad to see it go, but it's time to sell.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Here is the eBay ad. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Happy bidding if you're interested, and if you're not thank you for your time!

UPDATE: The car sold earlier this week, and as sad as I am so see it go, Its off to bigger and better things. It is going on a boat to Germany next week where it will begin its new life with a very proud new owner. I sold a big block Corvette to a guy in another continent before my 17 birthday. I'm honored to have had the opportunities I have and we are looking for the next one.

Why do you have to sell? Seems sad that you have to let it go

We bought it with the intention of cleaning it up and selling it on. It was fun while it lasted. How many other teens can say they've driven and co-owned a classic big block Corvette. it'll be sad to see it go, but it'll be nice to have money again! Haha

we bought it to clean it up and sell it on. It was fun while it lasted. And I got to drive and co-own a big block Corvette within my first year of driving. How many people can say that? It'll suck to see it go, but it'll be nice to get my money back haha

Very cool that you did this!

This car will probably be worth twice as much in 5 years!

I wish we could keep it for a little longer but we have enough long term projects both automotive and non-automotive. Some of the profit we are hoping to make will go into parts for my car and the rest will go into my college fund. It's a more sound investment than a bank account currently. Glad I had the opportunity to do this.

Very cool! You've got your head on straight.

Also congrats for having that much power at such a young age and not killing yourself with it! I would NOT have been able to handle that much power. I had an E30 318i when I was 16. And that little 4 banger almost got me into trouble. I never crashed but I got multiple tickets and got put into the "problem driver program"

I was driving it down a back road and decided to really get on it just once. lit them up in 2nd, I grabbed third and took off. Got it up somewhere shy of 100 and backed way off because a curve was coming up, went around and saw the road ahead was being repaved and had been closed with tar-laying machines and men with hi-vis jackets in the way. I took that as Gods way of telling me my fun was over and I had to chill out. Great fun. I learned at a very young age that there is a time and a place for going fast, and I knew I would never be able to live with myself if I had the opportunity to feel the full impact of 500ftlbs of torque and I didn't. I'm glad I did, and I'm extra glad I backed out when I did because that would've been an uncomfortable call to the insurance and police and my parents. My trusty little XR is all the car I need right now, but it was great to drive a car with that much power and no assistance. My first big block, my first with no power steering, my first with no assisted brakes, the clutch was as heavy as anything i've ever encountered, but its soooo much fun. Even going slow is an adventure and I truly envy the person that buys it. Sorry to bore you with all that, but I get a little excited about the car haha.

I've currently got my Merkur XR4Ti I bought from Hardigree that we are working on, there are a couple things running around town that interest us with a "for sale" sign. There is a convertible GTO we are looking at for a little later. We have loads of projects going on currently both automotive and non, but picking up another one like this and cleaning it up and making a little profit is always nice! haha

that wasn't boring, that was AWESOME!

I can only imagine how crazy that car is. My dad used to have a big 1970 Chevy pickup with the 454. I can only imagine how insane that engine is in a little car!

I'm gonna be honest when I first started it up I was pretty terrified to drive it. It is so loud it shook the whole car and vibrated. It's an almost religious experience. First time I drove it my dad pulled off to the side of the road and as I jumped in he looked me in the eyes and said "don't stall it." haha. It was the most nervewrecking drive and also the greatest drive of my life.

haha I bet!

I still have nightmares about how scary the old 454 pickup was to drive!

The 454 Vettes are total classics. Batshit insane

I wish I would've had a GoPro set up to see my stupid grinning face while driving the thing followed by the terror in my eyes when I got on it haha

Not any videos from this one, but the next one for sure. We found a 1968 427 tri-power we are looking to pick up as soon as this one gets shipped off as long as the deal doesn't fall through.

No, random internet image of another '70.

Interesting concept of the partnered purchase. I guess you liked it as you are sticking with it and moving on up. Are your partners around the same age?

There is one other younger guy. My dad and his uncle are friends, we each put some of our own money in, work on it, enjoy it for the time we have it then sell it on and split the profit proportional to what we put into it. Fun way to make a few extra dollars and get some good life experience working on buying and working on cars. Also get to learn first hand the risks of investing considering I really do put my own money into it. We make sure we are getting pretty sound investments and solid cars to sell on, but you never know. At least I get the opportunity to drive some awesome cars in the process.
