I was nearly done with the last 30 pictures and Kinja shit the bed, so this is part 2

N-1M

Kinja'd!!!

Aeronca C-3. Affectionately nicknamed the flying bathtub. Always loved these

Kinja'd!!!

Waterman Aeromobile. Weird flying wing pusher thing built out of car parts to save cost

Kinja'd!!!

Old Cessna ad featuring a 172 and a C1 Corvette

Kinja'd!!!

Shiny PT22

Kinja'd!!!

Next I headed up to the observation deck. I could spend all day up here, it was an awesome view

Kinja'd!!!

Watched a KLM 747-400 land

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Last look back at Udvar-Hazy. Incredible place, everyone should see it

Kinja'd!!!

The rest of the trip was seeing the sights, some monuments, the capitol, and the Newseum (which was a great museum)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Wall of stars at the WWII memorial. Each star represents 1000 lives and there are 400 stars

Kinja'd!!!

Some panoramas of the WWII memorial

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A Lotus Elise! Didn't see many exciting cars, this and an Audi RS7 were the only cars of note

Kinja'd!!!

Jefferson memorial

Kinja'd!!!

Literally impossible to take pictures of anything without someone in the way

Kinja'd!!!

Capitol Building

Kinja'd!!!

This was a bummer. Apparently they are basically rebuilding the dome, so you can't see anything inside.

Kinja'd!!!

A fancy courthouse (The Supreme Court)

Kinja'd!!!

Back to planelopnik, this Bell JetRanger hangs in the Newseum

Kinja'd!!!

Oh canada? Great view from the Newseum

Kinja'd!!!

Better picture of the helicopter

Kinja'd!!!

It was time to head home. Took an Embraer E170 to Chicago, then another Embraer ERJ-145 home. Last shot of DC

Kinja'd!!!

Lufthansa 747-8I in Chicago

Kinja'd!!!

It's hard to tell, but this was quite the lineup of planes at the international terminal. 2 787s, a smattering of 777s, a couple A330's and A340's

Kinja'd!!!

Arriving back in Wichita I got a nice view of the 3 east side airports. Remember that Dreamlifter that landed at the wrong airport?

Kinja'd!!!

It's hard to see in that picture, but here I've enhanced. Jabara is the northernmost airport, that's where the Dreamlifter landed by mistake. McConnell AFB is the one furthest south, that's where he was supposed to land. Beech field is in between

Kinja'd!!!

One last shot, this of McConnell AFB. I doubt you can see it in the picture, but there are some 737 fuselages sitting on trains outside the Spirit plant, not unlike the ones currently in a river
