Well I saw one today in traffic, so I guess it's kind of a unicorn. Thanks!

They're rare, but at the same time, they aren't.

There were two types of 944 Cabs, the S2 Cab. and the Turbo Cab.. The S2 came with a massive 3.0L 4-cylinder making 208 naturally aspirated horsepower; the Turbo is unique in the fact that it used the Turbo S 2.5L Turbo engine making 250 horsepower. They're impossible to distinguish because they use the exact same fascias and panels; or rather, the S2 used the Turbo's front and rear fascias. Only the badges are different.

They're seemingly common because they look like 944s, but then you do a quick search and realize only 938 944 Turbo cabs were made, and only for 1991. The S2 is different in the fact that the 1989 cars are the rarest. Why? Because only 16 were made and sent to the US. Total, there were 2,402 S2 Cabs. built.

It really depends on the year if you saw a unicorn or not, but I suppose that's a unicorn if you saw one in traffic. Nice find!
