In my work parking lot. With an adjustable wrench and the screwdriver side of the lug wrench the car came with. Like a boss.

I stuck the screwdriver in between the pad and the rotor and pushed them back that way using the lever before I unbolted the lower slide

Not really - penile-depression isn't suggested in the service manual unless you have the Hybrid model.

I've read on forums that it's totally fine as long as the BBK you have installed is smaller than 355 mm.

My service manual is very lax when it comes to penile depression.
