*Just being pedantic*
"These cars were supposed to be MoPar's answer to Cadillac and Lincoln, but the low specification of this model meant it was really more on par with an Oldsmobile or Buick."
Most Oldsmobiles and Buicks came with Air-Conditioning and an FM radio, even if they were a lot filler model.
Olds and Buick fell on the rung below Cadillac mainly due to size and image. Cadillacs had bigger motors and were physiclly larger cars. Although Cadillac styling was traditional, it was more aggressive than the conservative Oldsmobile or Buick (except for a few examples).
A low-spec chrysler would have been targeted to steal sales from intermediate Olds and Buicks. (They are completely different vehicles, so it would hard to say whether they were on par with one another when everything was considered).I imagine a conversation at a Chrysler dealer would be like this.
Dealer: "Look at the Olds, they call it an intermediate, but it is just too small for the American family, besides this one has a bigger motor."
Customer: "But the Jones' Buick has AC and this Chrysler is a two-barrel."
Dealer: "You don't need that shit; the GMs don't have vent windows like this Chrysler. You won't use them extra carb barrels when you're just a few rpm above idle anyway."

She's a beauty and reminds me of the '70 New Yorker that a girl I knew in high school drove. We called it the S.S. New Yorker.

Great write up. Once my house is complete I might venture on to kijiji to see what I can find. hoping to find something as solid as what you got but in Alberta people then to over value their stuff. this same car in this condition would have an asking price of at least $6000 plus all the extra that would be needed to get it 100% road worthy.
You definitely got a good buy I can assure you that. this is about what $1700 would buy me

Surprised it's roll down windows for a car that was supposed to compete with top tier luxury. I love the paint job on the car though. Nice ride!

Well I've actually lived in both provinces and I think the Ontario cars are more pricey. Certainly depends on which car, though.

You got that for a steal. Especially in Ontario.

No problem. All sorts of car stuff is a pain in Ontario. We really need a better temporary insurance program here. I couldn't drive my car until it was safety'd, and couldn't get it somewhere to get safetie'd without driving it. I had to take a little illegal drive too.
