Okay, I've been too cheap to pay for an xbox live account. But, I want to play forza (fourza) online with you guys! What's the best way to get started? How do you find people in fourza once you are online? How does the whole car/garage/mods/etc thing work online? I've just messed around a bit with freeplay, and gone like halfway through career mode. I'm pretty much always beating the AI, but have no idea how that compares to online play.
Opponauts, clue me in!
Thanks!
Edit - Followup question - in the career mode I have to pay for car damage. What about online? Am I paying for BS caused by other racers? Also, how does it affect things like 'loyalty discounts' and crap like that which you see in the career mode? Or is there no such thing online?

Forza 4 or 5?
Look for private lobbies in forza 4.
You're best bet is look for a league series, and meet up with the people in the league for fun racing. Also befriend anyone who is super clean racer that you noticing going out of their way not to hit you.
- Forza forum
- Forza league type forum where you can make a group of friends
You need to use your xbox live account to add buddies. There is also a recent player option for past players so you can add etc. It's easy you'll get it.

You wont be able to do anything without a gold account, sadly.

Once you get your Gold account setup, you will need to get people to accept you as friends with their XBL gamertags.
From this list you can invite people to play Fourtza together.
You can also join the public online multiplayer lobbies. Don't. They are filled with idiots who have zero idea how to race and corner like they at the D1 GP.
Instead create custom lobbies to race against the online AI and your friends. This leads to less incidents of controllers impacting TV screens.

okay, as far as I can tell, I already have an xbox live (free) account, but the paid account IS a gold account, is that right?

You could look at virtual-motorsports.com they run f4 series and 5, Definitely check it out. On 4 another great thing is the public "cycled production" you get more mature racers, then branch out.

To the follow up question, everything works as it does in single player, discounts car damage payment ect. Think of online as an extension of career mode where you decide what to do.

Thanks. So when people drive somewhat recklessly (or screw up badly) we still have to pay for damages, but discounted? Do you use the same pool of "money" that is in single player? So worst case you could go run some single player races to raise some more cash?

Yep, but playing online races with A.I. Pays really well so it's not a huge deal if you need cash but still want to play with friends.
