So with the release of Chrysler's 5 year plan for Dodge, it has become apparent that the plans for SRT are to make a version of nearly every car in the lineup. Heck, even the next Journey is getting one. So this got me thinking. With my new position as a VW salesman, I would love to see Volkswagen do the same thing with the R line.

While they are expanding the R-Line moniker, R-Line cars are often an appearance or option package on an otherwise mechanically stock car. The suspension may be a bit sporty, but that's the extent. No, what I mean is an actual R version of cars like the Jetta and Passat to match the Golf R. They've done it in Europe in the past with the Passat and Touareg, but we've never seen anything here other than the R32 and latest Golf Rs.

So here is the lineup I'd like to see if Volkswagen were to do a full R Line of their models:

The Golf R - Obviously this one is already taken care of.

Jetta R - 3.6 liter and hook it up to 4mo through either a 6MT or 7DSG. Give it a bit more restrained look compared to the Golf R.

Beetle R - Pack the 2.5T from the Audi TTRS under the hood, and tune the AWD system for more rear bias. Make the Beetle R the ultimate expression of VW performance.

Passat R - Super 6 from the Audi S4 and A6, with a ride that is simpler and sportier than the other versions. Basically make it a budget A6 S-Line.

CC-R - Same as the Passat, but with the Executive interior options to create a true flagship.

Tiguan R - I discussed this last week. 3.0 TDI hooked up to a heavy duty manual or 8DSG. Hauling boats and haulin ass.

Touareg R - 2 words: V12 TDI. Audi Q7 be damned, VW needs to do something batshit crazy for this one.

Those are my choices. Let me know what differences you would rather see, or if there's a different brand, comment with that too.

cc should stock with design cue from s7 and have the 4.0 twin turbo

That would jack the price up too much. People already complain about an Executive costing 43k. With that setup it would have to be 60!

Those are great ideas! A high performance fastback would be great also, call it "The Mustangeater R."

Well that would be the Beetle. If they'd use the RS motor in it, that would give it at least 360hp. In that package, it would easily eat the V8 pony's. In a Beetle.

I'd drive one just for the trolling.

Hell yeah!

Dodge Caravan SRT4/6/8

Dodge Avenger SRT4/6/8

Dodge Doblo SRT4/6/8 (Ram Promaster City SRTx, Fiat Doblo Abarth)

Dodge Ducato SRT4/6/8 (Ram Promaster SRTx, Fiat Ducato Abarth)

Why has it taken them so long to make an SRT Wrangler?

Dodge Durango SRT8

They missed the opportunity to offer a Dodge Sprinter SRT12 (Mercedes has been making a V12 Sprinter in Mexico for quite some time)

Haha, Yeah that too.

Something along the lines of this, just to casually make Mustang owners shit themselves. Except more modern, Lol. Sort of based off the S5, with a similar engine setup but a cheaper price.

How about every car a manufacturer is obligated to submit a car for each form of racing and have homologated version of said car? One rule, the production car must share same engine displacement and drivetrain layout as race car.

Examples:

WRC-Beetle: has all wheel drive, long travel suspension

NASCAR-Passat(preferably new Phaeton): rear wheel drive, V8

LeMons-Golf: Dealers must sell shitty old used cars for dirt cheap

You get the idea.

AEV will take care of any performance mods you'd want done to a Wrangler. Including getting a Hemi under the hood.

Great idea! Except for the LeMans one. You can't enforce those rules lol

The 3.0T is a logitudinally mounted engine. There is no transverse application for it. The VAG bean counters would never permit it for such a limited production vehicle.

A hot-rodded 3.6 VR6, however...

Will never happen. The CC is transverse, S6/S7 is longitudinal. As I said above, a hot-rodded version of the 3.6 VR6 is the best bet.

Actually, the original idea for the Jetta R was AWD and the 3.6 VR6 out of the Passat and CC. Maybe tuned up a bit to 300hp also.

I think you couldnt have put it better Mr.BugeyedBeetle.

And a V12 Touareg would be the single greatest SUV EVER

Holy crap and I hadnt noticed that the inline 5 of the TT-RS is PERFECT for the Beetle!!
