I clean cars, not because I enjoy it, but it's the best I can do for the time being. It is not rare to see a filthy car that a person would usually only prod with a ten foot pole, and usually is the case that the end product looks a lot cleaner than when it came in.

Kinja'd!!!

Detailing a car is serious, fast paced work, despite my superiors being calm and chill, they are fairly rushed, but not to the point losing quality of work is an option. Cleaning up a car from roof to bumper is a time-consuming process, depending on the amount of dirt caked into the upholstery (and even the paint!).

The same applies to mechanical work, like most of the people on OppositeLock praise. The more neglected a car is, the more expensive and more time it takes to repair. Of course, this is relative to the vehicle.

Kinja'd!!!

The end product, be it a cleaned, repaired or completed vehicle, the irresistible urge of satisfaction seeing your work complete, all your hard work pays off, even if the car is a little crapbox.

Kinja'd!!!

I sometimes clean vehicles that most people won't even touch in their lifetime, along with the generic daily drivers that outnumber the luxury types. I guess I am special?

Kinja'd!!!

The vehicles harder to clean are the ones that are used as family cars, which are often crossovers, mainly examples of the Ford Edge. Those also seem to be the most neglected ones, with bald tires, paint chips, with the interiors soaked with various fluids and scattered with cracker crumbs, and the rear bumper splattered with political stickers.

Such a condition ends the car's initial lifespan under the original owners, and they trade in for a newer model, that's when we come in, the cars are often traded in dirty, so dealers send them to us. Seeing those cars clean is a nice feeling, I'd do it for the satisfaction at the end of the day.

I'm the type of guy that gets a kick for helping people out, and an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is no exception.

I feel that I will do well in the blue-collar field, and my 4 year hiatus due to medical issues, I still haven't lost my way. Fellow and future labourers, do it for the passion, the money comes as an extra. You'll love your job more.

Fellow labourers, do it for the passion, the money comes as an extra.

This is why I fix Lawn mowers and small engines. For fun and to help. Most time I refuse pay, I want them to be happy. And at the end of the day fixing it gives me a sense of Pride and accomplishment and that is all that really matters.

Unless shop equipment is needed I fix our family cars. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't get a job being a mechanic. I don't think I would enjoy it as much.

Absolutely. I've always fixed things for fun. I'm a tinkerer as well, and I enjoy stuff that I can repurpose.

If you take pride in what you do, whatever it is, you'll have a much better chance of succeeding.

What's your rate? I'd love a full showroom condition detailing from you.

If it's done at the shop, it depends on the vehicle. A full detailing inside and out is approx $130 for SUVs on the full package.

If you ask me to do it, it'll cost half that. I don't have a rate, but people have paid me $60 for my work.

What product do you use on the salt stains? I got some of mine out, but there is still more to come out.

We steam the carpet to remove those kind of stains. Also some industrial-grade citronella if it doesn't come out.

We all should take pride in something, and it's great that you take pride in your work, even when it's a crap car you're cleaning.
