E36 3-series.
Preferably a 328i sedan in black with a black interior.
In other words, exactly what my girlfriend's dad drives. Who won't sell it for the life of him, even though he'd be making profit on it.
If I could find one for around $2,500 that'd be great.

I'd be alright with Boston Green.
Has it been reliable by BMW standards?

I bought it for $1,700 but there were a lot of things not working and it had 164,xxx miles on it. But it's really been pretty good. And it is loads of fun.

They are fun cars. When in good condition they still feel relatively modern while providing more driver feedback than a comparable E46. The. 328's are pretty quick as well.
Here's mine:
1997 328is.
