So instead I'm watching the World Cup matches, playing SimCity 4, and maybe play Fourza for the first time in ages. Attached is a picture representing the rental car from this week in Ohio.

Tell me about it. I think about other lines of work that also involve travel. I'm the pilot and spend a decent part of the day flying people about and then i realize that the people in back, the salesmen/women, are working on that damn laptop the whole time and then when they get on the ground, they're working on it more and any of my downtime i have in a hotel, they are spending that time in a meeting or meeting with other people or doing more sales and then when done they get back on the plane and are on the damn laptop again, doing emails and power-points. It's so bad for them they get 80 hours of productivity from a 40 hour week from these people. What a way to live, checking email while standing up at the urinal. Yes I saw that. MAKING calls while sitting on the pot. Not a single moment left for any thoughts of your own. Not even time for a nose pick.
Most of them are quite out of shape and if there's one thing to stay away from at an airport, is the public bathroom on Friday afternoons. The salesmen have been eating out and eating really rich nice dinners with clients all week long so by Friday, they're system is explosive, in the Chicago O'hare bathrooms.
Every week or other week they repeat that. It's a busy life. So I don't want that.

I was in Columbus. Technically Grove City. Working on a warehouse buildout.

I don't have to travel every week, but when I do, it's ridiculous.
On the way from the ATL airport, I got called to resolve an on-call issue, which really wasn't an issue, so I ended up having no dinner, because by the time everything was done, it was 11:30PM. My flight landed at 8PM.
Sad, but I'm taking it out on the wasps that are living in my grill. Turn it on high, let it heat up, and wasps start trying anything to get away from the hot hot hot hot hot burnthemalltoacrisp.

Read over the TSA rules. They apply differently to me as crew but theres' some foods you can carry through security, and that helps a lot when you are travelling late. Campbell's bag soup, or foil packs of tuna salad and some whole wheat wraps make for good snacks that don't violate their rules nor do they require any ice/cooling. You can be inventive as well so if theres' no dinner at least you have a snack that's not an ordered pizza or hoagie or pile of Chinese that goes half uneaten from sheer size.

You don't have to pick the boring one, you know.

Technically because the client is a cheapskate, the person who was already there drove his rental car to the airport, gave it to me, and then got on a plane and left.
Getting a new one would cause more idiocy than not, because the accounting department has recently hired gremlins to process expense reports.

Walk in with a super-soaker and shoot them with water just to see what happens...

There are some nice places around Columbus. But, really Columbus is just a highway. I never get the sense that there are real neighborhoods anywhere around there. Just a series of roads connected to ever larger roads.

I did 3 years of 5k miles a week. Monday 4 am IAD to SFO so I could be in plant by 8am Pacific. Friday redeye so I could be 'home' for the whole weekend. Probably aged myself 10 years on that schedule. Trashed my whole system with horrible food and way too much drinking that I'm still feeling a couple years later.

I like work traveling. It might because I don't do it very often. Many dislike it because they have to do it too much.
My father work traveled really often when he was still working. He didn't complain much so I guess he was able to enjoy it.
Tomorrow I will travel to Belgium for a week. It this my third time in Belgium but first time that I will stay there for more than a day. I'm attending a conference for CNG and LNG powered vehicles so it will be quite easy task compared to yours.

You Sir, you've got it. In my favor I can say that very rarely I opened my laptop while traveling, and I did it only when they were giving me the business class. Now that we are obliged to fly cattle, I'd eat one of my testicles rather than working while traveling: I'm to busy trying to move the fat chinese lady's elbow from the armrest. But it's so true that after a week abroad (mainly in the Far East), I cannot stand the stink of my shit. Life is hard nowadays.
