Same as the 500s, they use the non-turbo version of my engine. I wish I understood the technology more tha. I do, so here's Wiki's take.

Basically the same kind of idea that Koenigsegg has with its camless engine. The goal is the same. But while Koenigsegg uses compressed air to move the vīd but valves, Fiat is using a electric actuation of the valve (I think they use some kind of solenoid).

To be fair, only the transmission is actually from Italy.
