I've "lowered" it, added rims in a color which was suggested, and changed the hood and spoiler to reflect the fact I'd like them to be carbon fiber. Maybe some red Honda badges, too. What say you, oppo? Is this sufficient? Because I think it is.

I like it, hope it's your Enkeis that you paint red that make in on there instead of those though :D

Are those tires a bit too thick though?

I think painting those would look good. And I would definitely put the red Honda badges on too.

As Oppo's resident "street cred done cheap" let me point you to a few places.

Go to UPgarage for really sweet deals on used parts. Seriously, you can get parts that would cost over a grand in the US market for about 1-200$ US equivalent. It's amazing. You can probably pick up lowering springs and wheels there.

I would avoid the carbon fiber hood. You will gain very little compared to removing the rear seats of your car which you can do before a competitive event such as autocross. Consider some seat upgrades as well. A lighter, more bolstered seat can give your car a more sporty look while saving weight and possibly being more comfortable than your worn out seats you have now. Used ones can also be found at UP garage.

If this is a street/cruise car only like the jetta I built, I recommend having a fair amount of sidewall. Unless you drop a lot of money and effort into a car, you will never be all that "admired" on the street. But sticking to a theme and doing it right will get you a lot of respect and street cred. Go up a size or two on wheels but keep the same width and offset. This will ensure that you don't need things like fender flares and a complete redesign of the suspension to ride correctly. Even on lowering springs and stiffer shocks, you will just need an alignment to factory camber and toe angles and your car will still go over speed bumps and potholes nicely.

My last piece of advice is to do two things - 1) Don't be afraid to go a little crazy on the looks. Looks don't affect how the car rides. 2) Write down your "idea" and stick to it. Don't change halfway through and go "You know, I was enjoying the thought of a rally car tribute but now a drift-imitation honda sounds fun" since you'll end up with a really bad hybrid or a lot of wasted time and money.

Attached is my jetta, for reference. I built it for 3000$ including the price of the car, the price of new tires, and professional alignment as well as some much needed repairs. I went with a "Euro-blackout" style so my body colored trim was painted black. But I also wanted the beer-label bombed fenders on the front to be the focus so I kept my wheels simple. I then rusted the trunk to give the back some visual texture at shows. Your Logo would actually do quite nicely if you painted that front bumper strip black too. Not the whole bumper like my jetta, just that little strip. Black spraypaint + masking tape + some cleaner to clean it off first = custom job. You'd be amazed how well it sets off the look.

Oh! I almost forgot! Consider aftermarket head and tail lights! You have no idea how much of a difference they can make to the look of your car. Here's my jetta with the euro market lights.

I really like that paint scheme. Very nice detail with the silver strip.

You've put a lot of thought into this:

1) I had vaguely heard of UP Garage, I did not realise there were multiple locations. There are two which are a reasonable distance from me. Thanks for that.

2) The carbon fiber hood isn't about weight reduction, exactly. This car is already super light. I like the way it looks and feels, and I had one on my EK. I won't be removing interior parts. This is a commuter car, and I am regularly the driver for a group of non-driving JET Programme friends.

3) I'm planning to see if I can get a pair of CTR Recaros or red S2000 seats. I had black s2000 seats in the EK. It would be awesome of I could find those in UP Garage. I will say, however, this interior is IMMACULATE. What do you mean, worn seats? I swear I was staring at a brand new interior. Both previous owners kept it spotless. I bet they're less worn than the used seats I might end up putting in there.

4) Could not care about street cred less than I do now. My friends (mostly women) are not into cars at all, do not understand cars, and glaze over when I try to discuss them. As a "foreign" woman, I can't imagine I'd get much of any interest from male Japanese drivers. This isn't about other people, this is about me. Pretty much what I photoshopped for exterior is my plan.

5) I painted the exterior trim on my EK to match. I considered myself lucky when I found out the GA was already painted (not all are) and had the front and rear lips and side skirts (again, not all do). I'll be leaving that alone. Never been a fan of the decoupaged fenders/bumpers or rusting (I learned about both of those from Mighty Car Mod's street cred Golf, which, no offense to your Jetta, I thought was ridiculous, but to each her own, or his in the case of the MM team).

If it were my car, I'd stick on the Honda Enkeis, lower it and leave it alone past that. Now, that said, the CF hood look does go with the car, and I even kinda like the red wheels, even if they're not my first pick.

More importantly, I'd stick a beefy rear sway on, to make it a bit more tail happy.

Any drivetrain mods happening, or strictly cosmetic and handling?

sure thinner would look better, but wheres the harm in wearing down the existing tyres free of charge before spending the money?

I'd like to put a B-series or K-series in there, but I live in a townhouse apartment. I don't have the space, even if I have the money, to do much myself. So I'd probably have to find a shop to do it. There's one near my apartment, so I'm probably going to take my other parts there to be installed. Maybe they'll know about how feasible this is.

Those tires currently on there are shot. They will not pass inspection. I need to spend money to replace them at least.
