Because I have this piece of shit back. See, this is my parent's 2000 Honda Civic, LX. Automatic. Modded by a 16 year old TurboSloth, who had a job as a cashier who liked cars, and drove a civic. Basically, it was a hand me down. But it was my hand me down. This took me to school, to parties, to friends homes, everywhere. This was my entry into the world of cars.
However, as of late, it's really been breaking down. that black hood? That's plasti-dip. The paint is fading considerably faster on the hood rather than the body. Those hoodpins? It's because the hood can't actually close. Rust? Yes, but as of now, it's only superficial. No rust on the frame. Engine? Well, something's wrong with it, that's for sure.
Since this car holds sentimental value with me, and isn't just some civic, I'm keeping it . No selling it for scrap, or selling the car on craigslist. My dad has already granted me permission to go full on project car with this, and rather than looking for another car, I decided to test my mechanic skills on this.
Now, with the engine being one of the most troublesome pieces of the car, I wanted to swap to a newer Honda engine. Money right now is not an issue (I've been offered a job at the place that I am currently doing an internship in). Also, I'd like to go from automatic to manual. This isn't something that's going to come out pretty. I just want my Civic to be fun again.
Anyone know where to get civic engines? Or if a newer model engine will fit in this car?

You're a true OPPOnaut. I wish I was able to keep my first car :(

I was thinking of K-swapping it, but I don't know if all civic engines have the same mounting points, or whether there are adapter plates or something. Also, I don't know where to get a K engine. Any recommended sites?

I'm not sure about the mounting points, but there are countless Civic forums that can help you out with that, since EK/EJ K-swaps have been done for quite a while now. And as for getting a K engine, CL or ebay?
