Nice. Favorites: BMW M3 Laguna Seca Blue, BMW 2002, and all of the Supras.

Would a corvette be able to participate in C&C?

Of course! C&C is open to anyone. There are usually quite a few corvettes out there, actually.

It's on my list of "Cars I want I will never own." I was happy with the 3-series sedan I managed to get, which was modified by the previous owner, and put out 240HP. Outside it just looked like a normal 2000 323i. It wasn't. Sadly, when I moved to Japan, it had to go. :'(

Honestly, I'm not sure about one specifically for SF, but I know that everything is allowed and encouraged at ours. The goal for ours is to be all-inclusive and get as many people out as possible However, I'm not sure what would happen if you had a space limitation?!? You can go out as a spectator this month and ask someone or see if there are other corvettes out there. I would imagine there are.

Looks pretty sleeper to me. Why can't you ever own one? Because Japan? or why?

Funny, I just read about that Viper T/A in an old issue of Motor Trend waiting in a doctor's office today. Can't say I've seen one (or any new Viper) in person.

Really? I've seen several (new Vipers) and I must say they are quite beautiful. Apparently there were two T/As at the Cars and Coffee Cary, NC a few months ago (Orange & Black) You should see if your local Dodge dealership has one in stock.

In addition to whatever I make via Gawker (and it's variable and sort of up in the air at the moment), I am a public school teacher. I don't make enough. Actually given how quickly cars depreciate here, getting into one (if they're common enough that rarity doesn't undo the depreciation factor) probably wouldn't be as expensive as in the States, but... I bet it would take me years to save for it.

You don't buy cars here on loan, really. You save and buy outright. Car loans are a thing, but only for brand new vehicles, usually.

Eh. It's on a list of many cars I'd like to own. I also want a 2000 Honda Championship White Civic Type R EK9, and that is a much more likely acquisition given where I am. Frankly, I'm happy to even have a car of my own, which I will once I get the 2000 Honda Logo Sportic TS GA5 at the end of the month. I've not owned my own car since 2007, so...

I would not call myself a photographer, but the best advice I could give would be to avoid shooting from eye level. If you look through your shots, you will notice that the ones you took from kneeling or crouching look significantly better. When photographing cars, it is important to capture an angle other than the one we see all the time. Because of this, shots taken close to the ground, from high above, or of specific details tend to stand out.

For example, your first shot of the E46 M3 is not particularly interesting, but the simple change in angle for the second shot makes it much more interesting to look at.

Another helpful tip, which people have given me, is to find shots by talented photographers, and try to replicate them.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely see that in at least the first 6 pics: eye level, crouched down, eye level, crouched down, eye level, crouched down. And in every case, the crouched down picture looks better. It just still feels awkward for me to be crouching down for every picture in a crowded place, so I end up taking a lot from eye level/as I'm walking by.

I know what you mean, I often do the same thing at car shows because I feel like an idiot crawling around in public. If you only want the picture to prove to your friends that you did in fact see a given car, then by all means take quick shots from eye level, but if you want to get a picture that you would be proud to show people, you may have to get into some awkward places.

As an example, here is a picture I took with my phone while walking by a car on the street.

Kinja'd!!!

It is a nice car, but an incredibly mediocre picture. There is nothing particularly interesting about it other than the car itself.

Here is a picture I took of the same car, on the same street, with the same phone, on a different day and under different lighting.

Kinja'd!!!

As you can likely see, shot composition and timing matter far more than the type of camera.

Wow that is an insanely different result from the same location/car/camera(phone). The last picture is beautiful by the way.

Thanks, I'll check them out right now. Luckily I already know about shutter speed and aperture, but I think my biggest challenge is composition and getting unique, interesting shots.

Yea, that tends to be the most challenging part, you can learn the technical aspects of taking a great photo, but it can be much harder to develop an eye for good angles. The vast majority of the pictures I have taken have been terrible, only recently have I had shots that I am genuinely pleased with. I do believe there are several posts on there regarding composition and such.

I'm not a car person and ended up on this page because I saw "Raleigh" and thought "hey, I live there, what is this Cars and Coffee thing we have?" but just wanted to say that last photo is lovely. The lighting is just wonderful and a bit nostalgic. Makes me think of all the places that vintage car has been, could take me, and memories that could be made. :) Dorky thought, I know. Also, love the tips on car photography!

Wanted to note that I am also an awkward photographer who will do whatever is needed, be it crawling on the ground and leaning around that street sign, for the right shot. Love it.
