The Queen - who the carrier is not actually named after, confusingly - will be smashing a bottle of whisky on the deck to name her tomorrow, and she'll be out of dry dock by the end of the month, to make room for her sister ship, the Prince of Wales. Outfitting and final assembly will continue, in preparation for her projected 2015 launch date.

It could be. The date is quite the coincidence, otherwise.

As long as they have no plans to invade Washington and burn down the White House, I'll allow that it's a coincidence.

It's not quite fancy enough.

As long as they have no plans to invade Washington and burn down the White House again , I'll allow that it's a coincidence.

I have to admit, it would've been pretty cool of them to break with convention, and go for something along these lines:
Rather than standard aircraft carrier grey. But, hey, what can you do?

Gold trim sure is fancy, but it doesn't hide well.

How about BRG? It's patriotic, and should help with camouflage if the ship ever finds itself in a forest of some sort.

Ships this size rarely hide well.

And the Ford class carrier is 330m long and 100,000 tons. The new QE is cute.
Happy 4th.
