So there are three cars on CL right now I kinda want, and if/when my Civic sells I might grab one. They are all manual and they are all at least kinda cool.
My top pick is probly a 1985 Volvo 240 Wagon, sadly non turbo DL. Only down side is there is some visible rust, and it has 280,000 miles, but when when the motor goes i'll have an excuse to do a swap.
(Pics from Google image search cuz Kinja seems to hate it when I post anything from Craigslist. I'll put the links in the comments)
Second is a 1995 SHO. Its got only 125,000 miles, and looks to be in good shape.
Third a 2001 Saab 9-3 turbo. Its got 151,000 miles. Needs new brake pads, the brake lights stay on all the time... But it's only 1100 bucks so that gives me 400 bucks to let somebody else deal with that crap lol.

A SHO, Volvo wagon, and a Saab turbo... Oppo's biggest conundrum ever.

Saab will give you the most bang for your buck. Brake light issue is likely the switch, and doing a padslap on one of these is pretty easy. $60 in parts for front pads and a brake light switch - do it.

If you want a slightly tweaky FWD car, get the SHO, if you want a car that will always feel a little slow and boring, even when it has 300hp and crazy-good suspension get the Volvo. I'm a shameless wagon lover... Some IPD sways and springs, hard bushings, rip out the injection and put a pair of Weber 45 DCOEs on it and that Volvo will transform.

Well I'm an Oppo kind of guy.
They Saab is calling to me, It's a turbo, it has the big liftback, and Saabs are just weird. Also my family has a long standing relationship with Volvo. My parents met because of my Dad's first Volvo. My brother may have been convinced in that Volvo. Plus my Dad has had a few more, also all of my three siblings have had at least one(my brother has had 7), but I've never owned a Volvo,. However the SHO has a Yamaha engine, I mean a V6 that revs higher than my 1.7l Honda engine, that's too cool.

I've always said if I was going to do a swap on an old Volvo I'd be a Honda F20C from an S2000. Mainly just b/c I'm also a Honda guy. And I like rev happy engines.

A particular reason. For me the Saab being a hatchback is a HUGE advantage, plus its a good 1-200lbs lighter. But on the other hand the SHO's higher redline sounds like more fun.
