That's my WRX's rear right wheel. I slid it off a curb not too long ago coming home from work.

I was glaring at a Honda that decided to blast past me — coffee can exhaust spewing white smoke and an obnoxious racket. I'm pretty sure that I called him an imbecile under my breath just before my dumb ass realized that I was eating curb.

It's been bumming me out. I'm convinced that everyone can see it and is quietly judging me for it. Rightly so, I should add.

Owning a new car is rough. Every little ding hurts. It's something that I need to overcome, especially since this is my daily driver.

Each car wash reveals a new paint chip, and each new one hurts as bad as the first. This wheel rash is ruining me.

Has anyone else been humbled by their very own similar fuck up?

Come on. I need to feel like I'm not alone.

The pressure washer at the car wash (I can't wash my own car, I don't have access to a hose) took a nice little piece off my brand new 2014 Fiesta ST's paint, I was livid. Everytime I see my car from afar I notice it and it drives me crazy.

this is why we used to have 60 or 70 profile tires back in the day. I gutter rashed my old rims trying to get close enough to a card reader for a boom gate.

I partially blame the dickheads that set up the card readers for people who sit super high in SUV's rather than regular people in low slung sports cars.

I keep trying to convince myself that a Subaru is supposed to have some battle scars on it because they're rugged rally beasts...and then I walk past my wheel and see the thin line of stripped paint or notice paint chip and get weak.

All cars should have battle scars, but not so early in their lives.

I've had mine for 2600 miles and 2.5 months, it's still a baby. I need to go get the paint touched up on the scratch before it gets worse.

tell me about it man, I have to take the t-tops off so I can see the cashier for some places.

I figure it's one more incentive not to eat in my car and go get something healthier though (never works, I'm a fatty boombalada).

I almost stop functioning when I look at my car sometimes... then I realize it's 20 years old. It will get worse with every year that goes by on it... enjoy this time.

Ive had my moments, in my first car. I fucked up with the curb dont remember how. Something about turning the radio. Your damage is nothing, im sure if you dont tell to people, they wont notice. I know. When you know its there, You will always find it.

But its not so bad, when i fucked up, i had yellow on 1/4 my wheel. But then again, i was learning to drive in that one. My current car, well i haven't gone through any things like that.

That's why I buy used cars, somebody shared some wisdom with me around these parts a while back.

But when you buy used, you don't have to worry and loose sleep over that first rock chip, scratch, scrape, and tear. They're already some of them there.

If the curb rash is bothering you, I'd suggest that you attempt to Plasti Dip it/Have that wheel refinished.

I had my WRX for about a week and a rock came off a snow plow and took a nice pea size chip off the very front edge of my hood. To me it stands out like the moon on a dark night (black car). Do you find that your WRX catches a lot of crap up front? I've never ridden in a car and been able to hear so much crap bouncing off the hood/bumper.

I have these feels. I didn't buy my car new, but it was in really good shape. Sucks how a split second lack of judgement or attention stays with you for as long as you own the car... Yours is so minor, though. I bet you're the only one that's ever noticed it.

At some point, you realize that these little scuffs and rock chips are the sign of a car that's actually driven. I'd much prefer to see a car that's well-loved and well-used than one that's a garage queen and pristine.

When I first got my Abarth I was making a U-turn. About halfway through I realized for the first time that this tiny little car had the worst turning radius of anything I've ever driven. With traffic on its way I had to follow through. I thought I was going to make it, and then I heard the dreaed thud of the wheel hitting the curb. The factory Pirellis offer zero protection. I felt the same as you for a couple weeks.

I'm convinced that Subaru is using water colors instead of actual paint for the front of their cars and that they've somehow managed to develop some type of rock magnet apparatus.

I don't tailgate. I leave ample room, but I'm constantly hearing crap bounce off the front.

I have two chips on my hood. One on the very corner of the front that's totally unnoticeable unless you pop the hood and one to the right of the hood scoop.

Rashed my wheels real good shortly after moving into an apartment with a driveway that narrowed as it went down hill. By the sound of my screams, my wife thought I had been stabbed.

Happens to all of us and it still hurts. I curbed my 8 year old beater and scarred the hubcaps so badly I just took them all off and left it on steels. I cringe every time I look at it. Its a hazard of city living.

I know just how you feel on the curb rash. Last weekend, I was checking my junkyard bought spare tire to see if it fit (it did) afterward, my friend thought it would be an awesome idea to bounce 3,500 mile 2014 17 inch Hyundai Elantra limited wheel and tire around like a basketball. It ended up smacking the ground face down, which basically gave it curb rash all over.

(This pic was taken right when my friend was behind me playing "basketball" with my good wheel..)

You're not alone on that by any stretch. I put a nice dent right in the center of an otherwise shiny chrome bumper on my truck in college. Long day at my summer job with a landscaping company, hopped in my truck at 5 sharp, probably 90 degrees out and at least 90% humidity, and psyched to go meet up with my girlfriend that evening. I start the truck, blast the A/C and stereo, throw it in reverse, gas it a bit to get out of the space, and promptly nail the corner of a big, low, steel-railed trailer we used for towing the Kubota tractor to sites. No harm to the trailer. But a nice reminder to me: "Neither you nor anyone else is that awesome. Settle the F down." That dent followed me for 15 years, until I finally restored the truck, and the bumper was too rusted (inside, hidden) to re-use.
