Hey everyone! I'm thinking about starting a blog, but I wanted to hear what your thoughts were.
I'm a creative writing student from Fort Collins, CO, and the one thing I've always struggled with is finishing projects. I'm also terrible with deadlines. I figured the best way to get better is to force myself to abide by the rules the paid writer has to abide to, and that's were the blog idea comes from.
However, I don't just want to write about useless nonsense that nobody cares about; writing is, in the end, about the reader. So here's where I need your help. Does a blog like this sound interesting? Would you read it? Would others read it? Do you have any suggestions off the bat, or should I give it a go and see what happens? Please leave comments so I can figure out how, and if, I'm going to do this. Thanks!
Now, here's an example of what a blog entry might look like:
A Millenial's Take on Motoring:
An Introduction
Let's face it. Millenials don't have the best reputation in the automotive community, what with texting and driving and being completely disinterested in new cars. Millenials don't understand that driving is more than getting from point A to point B - that it is the point. Generation Y-drive, that's us.
I would try to tear down the stereotypes, try to show that Millenials deserve a slice of car culture. But I won't. Most of my friends care as much about cars as they do about fishing. They're more interested in Facetube and Instafy than the art of heel-toe or the pursuit of apex. But not all of us are apathetic toward the automotive world.
My name is Kamen. I'm twenty-two. When I was a kid my dad handed me a doll and I pushed it around the carpet, head first, just like a Matchbox. Not much has changed, other than my quirky selection of dream cars. I still dig through the Hot Wheels bins at Walmart, my favorite new movie is Rush, my job is as a driving instructor. Just last week I went to the Pikes Peak hill climb with my dad and had an incredible time. More on that to come.
But you see? Not all of us Millenials are losers. Some of us, but not all.
What I hope to do with this blog is present, well, a Millenial's take on car culture. Part mindless rant, part cunning interview, part keen investigation. I want to understand why some Millenials would sacrifice everything to own a cool car, while others care more about their mobile phones. And I want to do this all in a bi-weekly blog for you all to see.
Who knows? Maybe with some luck I can even make big manufacturers understand that we don't care about infotainment systems and . . . other rubbish. We'll have to see what comes, here on A Millenial's Take on Motoring.

you like writing and you like Hot Wheels? You should get on Live and Let Die-cast, a Kinja blog a few of us started a few months ago. Let me know if you want authorship, it would be another outlet for you to write! LiveandLetDiecast.kinja.com. Also, I like your idea for a blog. You could always give it a test drive as a series on Oppo

Live and Let Die-cast looks awesome. If I have the chance and something to contribute I'll for sure stop by and write a couple things here and there.
I like your idea of doing a test series on Oppo. I've finally got the blog up and running, but I've been cross-posting to see what people think. Thanks for the idea and the feedback!
Oh, and the blog is on amillennialonmotoring.wordpress.com, in case you want to see what it looks like.
