He said the four-foot propane tank that exploded, one of two that fuels the food truck, was found about 150 feet away in a residential backyard.

And not one person was dead on the scene? That is absolutely amazing. I hope the two who are in critical condition pull through.

My girlfriend is down there.... And likes food trucks....

Luckily, she's ok, and was nowhere near this.

Nasty accident there. Flammable gases can be downright nasty when they escape containment.

Probable sequence of events is valve failure or less likely a crack in the tank itself which let the gas escape followed shortly after by the explosion when the gas found an ignition source. The white cloud you see at the start is the propane's sudden expansion from being compressed in the tank cooling down the air enough to condense water vapor. Judging by the fact that the fireball spread out from the food truck itself the probable source of ignition was one of the burners in the food truck.

I had unpleasnt joy of having this happen to me in a smaller scale when a butane lighter exploded on me a year and a half back. I had carelessly and stupidly left it on top of a gas stove while cooking. The fireball seared off part of my eyebrows as well as burned off the hairs on my left forearm and hand as well as some very light burns on my hand (felt like a mild sunburn for while as well as a few blisters which developed days later). I was very lucky that it didn't do anymore damage than it did.

It looks like the propane tank ruptured, and then it exploded when it came in contact with the stove or something.

That's insane that nobody was killed.

"Can I get my crispy taco done extra crispy?"

"You sure you want it extra crispy?"

"Yeah, I'm sure. Extra crispy."

"Well, you asked for it..."

There's a Pat's Taco truck down in Hanalei Bay with a Carne Asada taco that will make you cry. I'll take my chances.
