I would really have appreciated more sidewall on the stock tyre. Nothing damaged yet atleast! Any other fiesta st owners had problems with the stock tyres? Anybody tried something with a bigger sidewall?

These things bubble really easily. The Prius's first set of tires, one of them got a bubble. On its 2nd set right now, have 28k or so and there's a bubble on one of them. The Fusion Energi also just developed a bubble on one of its tires, just 17k

I will say the ride quality is the stiffest of any car I've driven. The tires/wheel sizes don't help.

The stiff ride I dont mind that much. Can't always say the same for my passengers.

But I really think a bigger sidewall will help soften it up a bit.

My passengers hate the seats the most for some reason.

I've taken it on a short offroad adventure on a half decent dirt road and over some rough grass. It was fine there. Worried about not seeing a pothole at high speed and getting a bubble or denting the rim. But no problems so far even with the crappy roads around here!

I think most people are just not used to these type of seats. They do feel a little tight but I actually prefer the feeling of sitting in the seat instead of on it.

Compared to my Volvo 242 the FieSTa is a goddamn rolling barcalounger... then again my 242 is ex-SCCA touring car... I have 15" wheels that i put my winter tires on, I planned on getting some Direzza Z II's in 205/50-15 to slap on there for autocross-season, but I motorcycle repairs put a financial end to that :/ The ride isn't noteably softer with the winters (195/55-15 Michelin xICE xI-3 (BTW, I *HATE* THOSE TIRES)). it's just squishier in the corners.

Those are the modern, stylish tires that give your car a sporty look... and make you feel like your're riding a wooden cart. And do not listen those who say that less rubber equals lower production costs, for the maker. Those are conspiracy teories, and are damned true. Fact is that my previous Nexia with her 155/80 R13 inflated to 1.8 bar was comfy like a Mercedes, also on our old, cobblestone town roads, while my new Chevy's 185/55 R15 sporty tyres inflated to 2.5 bar, make my ride rougher than if I was on a wheelbarrow. But indeed my car looks so sporty...

Get 17s with bigger sidewalls! Love the meat, love the ride! Plus tires are cheaper as well!

As soon as these are done I am doing that. Which definitely wont be long! But from what I've seen its going to be a little more expensive plus less options.

Smaller is always better! 15s and 17s have a good selection of tires, 16s on the otherhand. . . not so much.

That was a good read!

Running 205/40/R17 at the moment. I read somewhere that 205/45/R17 should fit ok so going to try that next.

Wait, hold on, do you have a Fiesta or a Focus ST? I thought both had 18s. I am probably wrong though.

I have an FRS and we have a 215/45, tires looked a little stretched stock. I want to get it up to a 255/40 on a 17x9, for ultra meat!

Is that yours? I've seen all your tire posts but never your car.

I have a fiesta, comes with 17s. I think it matches the car nicely just needs MOAR SIDEWALL.

Haha, no my car is mostly stock. It looks stock and is stock. I only have headers, a catback, and a tune. I am planning on getting a set of wheels later in the year! Tires will come in the spring time though.

If you want you CAN go down to 16s in smaller widths. It is around 9" and up that tires get harder to find(you have to go to r-compounds for that). You can probably run a 205/50R16 no problem on this car!

You could go down a wheel size and then have bigger sidewalls.

I did for my autocross tires, makes my car look rally ready

Tempting but no due to cost of new wheels. Could probably offset it by selling current wheels but then 16s dont have a lot of tyre options.

Ran 205/55/R16 on my subaru. That was perfect except that the wheels looked too small!
