Tim Howard: American hero.

Did you know that Tim Howard has Tourette's , and he attributes that to his success?
His was a performance for the ages, but I would counter that the fact that he had to make 15 saves is the reason the US lost that game. With the way the team played in the first 90 minutes, it could — and should — have been 4-0 or worse.

Could not agree with you more. I don't like watching US soccer because they seem like they have no idea what they are doing, or how to control the ball.

My bad. BBC reported 15. I lost count watching the match.

It always seems to me that they get down to the box and have absolutely no clue how to proceed from there. After awhile, I find myself yelling, "Just shoot the damned ball! Do something! " That goal they scored in extra time was gorgeous, because the kid actually made a run.

Yeah definitely, that was a great play. I haven't watched many of their games but it seems like luck is on their side almost all the time, and they just ride that out.

It was incredible because it was his first ever touch in a World Cup match. I don't know for sure, but that must be a record.

You couldn't write a better story. They should have put the kid in sooner. Easy to say, but there's often a lot to be gained by youth and inexperience. Players like that often play with abandon because they don't think too much.

Yesterday made me change from "Tim Howard is the Black Peter Schmeichel" to "Peter Schmeichel is the White Tim Howard."
In all my years watching the sport and playing (Keeper's the *only* position I'll play/have played/want to play) that was the single best performance by a GK I've yet seen.
And I look forward to more photos on that meme!

Tim Howard could save GM from more recalls.
