...and that is to make a 1k HP Camaro. Come on, GM. Don't let us down now. This silly and ridiculous HP war isn't anywhere near as silly and ridiculous as it could be. The modern muscle car must be allowed to achieve it's final form!

"achieve its final form" is a perfect way to put this.

Until the clutch will only last one hard launch they must keep making moar powaaa. The car can always make more until it kills parts on a daily basis.

I'd keep buying clutches for a car that did 9s out of the box.

Indeed. They should bring the hp war to the factory drag cars like the COPO. A twin turbo 1200hp COPO would be amazing.

And by "its final form" I assume you mean U-shaped from where it was wrapped around a tree or pole.

I was on the floor, thanks to this:

"Chevrolet is considering an 11-liter, 1200 horsepower version of the Camaro to be called the Purgatorychicken."

Why? There's good reason that turbocharging becomes more and more prevalent from manufacturers all the way down to classic muscle cars and supercharging is going the way of the Dodo...

Personal preference mostly, there's also this thing called turbo lag.

Lag doesn't bother me and is almost non-existent on most turbocharged vehicles. But slow boost response can be pretty irritating. Still, both of my toys run rather large turbos and there are plenty of ways to minimize or even negate lag and slow response.

But, to each their own. Personally I'm largely anti supercharger but im big on diversity, so bring on more forms of induction in all cars.

I'll be honest... half the reason I wrote that article was so I could use the phrase "purgatorychicken".
