And it was genuinely the best experience of my life!
Short Recap because I've had 1 hour of sleep in the last 40 hours:
Best Sounding Car: Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
Sounds glorious online, sounds even more glorious in person.
Most Awesome Car: Tie between all Scion FR-Ss
They were so ridiculous and fast, you have to love them! Shout out to Ken Gushi for drifting through one of the sketchiest corners!
Honorable Mention: Ford RS200
Has the awesome factor, but the FR-Ss tugged my heart more.
What does a race car driver do when his car has a mechanical failure?
Contemplate life while sitting on the car.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It is insane to think that 14 miles and 156 corners of riding flat out up a mountain is less dangerous than slowing down after the finish line.

I got to hear Porsche 911s at Laguna. Man they are awesome. So loud. They're a mix between street car and f1 in sound to me.

Interesting... when I watch a pack of GT cars zoom by, the 911 is normally one of the quieter ones

I never got to go when I lived in CO. Can you describe how it was getting to your observation point? Did you have to get up there super early to claim your spot? Could you drive your own car up? Or did someone have to drop you off?

We drove up ourselves. We were originally going to get there around 4 or 5 am, but I got advice the day of to get there the night before as they only let around 1300 cars through. We got down there at 9 pm and there were 100 or so cars ahead of us, but the line got much longer after us. We slept for around an hour (sleeping in a small car is surprisingly difficult) and then waited for the gates to open a 3 am. There were only 5 cars in our area when we arrived. The parking lot was in a cove and the walk to the road was pretty far. When the sky started to get lighter at around 5, we checked out the viewing area (this is the first year that they didn't let you sit wherever you wanted to) and left our stuff in our spot. We went back to the car because it was cold and came back at 7. Some people were sitting right in front of our stuff, even though we were close to the fence. It turns out that they got there at 5, not earlier. We got there early just in case there weren't spots left, but it turns out you don't necessarily have to.
