Grid Autosport is Codemaster's chance to redeem themselves at racing games. It's their own admission that Grid 2 was a turd. I said games, not simulators. Remember that during this review.
(Full Disclosure: I wanted to give Grid a second chance so bad that I ended up getting my car dented and scratched in the parking lot by some asshat. I walked in to GameStop expecting a regular edition and walked out with the Black Edition.)
When I looked on the internet, well more specifically Oppo, about anything regarding the game, I saw two threads at most, one of them started by me. I get it, we're about the simulators and physics. Oh my god physics. What if I told you sometimes fun is more important than realism?
Before you charge into battle and execute a right flank to advance the realism's strength on the battlefield, let me admit something. I found Grid 2 terrible because of the- well everything. Drift my Dodge Charger, drift my C63 AMG Black, drift my MP4-12C GT3….NO. And the storyline. "Hey I'm a rich guy who likes racing but I sound like a shady businessman/pedo…please make my series work by racing in it?" Yeah go to hell and just let me race.
Grid Autosport feels a lot more like the first one though. And it has a little feel of the F1 201# games too. All in all, it's not bad. The variety in cars, tracks, AI, and difficulty allow for anyone to play it and have fun. A crude tuning ability exists, but just like in every other game with it, I don't use it because I have no idea how (apart from how to make a stanced GTI in Forza 4). Gone is the "DRIFT EVERYTHING AND YOU'LL GO FASTER ZOMG" handling of Grid 2. In its place is a good balance between arcade and simulator, with each car having their own handling characteristics, just as they should. Cockpit view is back, yes, but it's lacking. I can't put my finger on how to explain it. At least is has a cockpit view though. And my arch rival Ravenwest Motorsports is back. Gonna put that fucker Nathan McCane into a wall again. Fucker.
So there's the regular version and the Black Edition. The Black Edition includes the SLS AMG Black, white Ravenwest liveries, 20 Black Edition online livery patterns, and ten new additional sponsorships. Hey it's not much but it didn't impact the price at all.
VIGGEN'S RATING SYSTEM: The product and aspects of the product will be rated on a scale of zero to ten Miatas. Why Miatas? Because Miata and fuck you.
77/100 Miatas.
HEY! YOU PROMISED A REVIEW YOU LIAR!
It's a game though, not a service or a car so it's a little out of my usual reviews-I-never-post zone. Just understand this: if you liked TOCA or Grid, but hated Grid 2, you'll like Grid Autosport.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who hates ravenwest.
