In regards to my dads 740i. You guys can say what you will about the reliability, but he dailys this thing well over 100 miles each time to work. With over 160K on the clock, and ~100K of those put on by him, i can truly say this has been an exception to that side joke about BMW and their reliability.
Every time I pass the car I look at the paint. I gotta hand it to BMW. Whatever they used, or however the processed the paint is simply astounding. High wear areas still retain great paint depth, and the deepness of the shine still gets me jealous since I will work for hours on my car, and never get it to look that nice.
The quality doesn't stop there. You seat yourself inside the car, and its relaxing, quiet, and just plain comfy. Everything you touch is solid, quality feeling, and nothing is out of place. Except for the in car phone they came with, just get rid of that.
Ive had to the pleasure to drive this several times, and recently after he lowered it on Bilstiens. A slight sacrifice in ride quality lead to some noticeably better handling characteristics. Not crazy by any means, but enough to where you knew it felt better. And of course there is a V8 in there, but we all know how fun that is.
The thing that drives me nuts is the fact he goes well beyond 10K miles between oil changes. He tells me he is just following the on board servicing indicators... But to my surprise not a drop is lost, and it all comes out pretty clean.
My dad eventually wants to supercharge this thing. And if/when that happens you can bet I'll make sure to show you guys.
BMW, all I can say is you have made one hell of a car. And I hope to own something from you in my future.

That model 7 series has one of the worst reputations. Glad to hear he's having better luck than most.
Carlos wishes he has a manual

I wanted to believe that the rumors for BMW's reliability was over exaggerated, so i bought a 1996 BMW 328i convertible with 126,000 miles... it lasted me a month then blew a head-gasket... needless to say i am never buying a used BMW again
