The major update to the sound will be coming in GT7, so don't expect anything on that front from the July update.

As someone whose love for racing video games has just recently evolved from Arcade to Simulation, tell me: Are the sounds in Forza fairly faithful?

Alliteration aside (uh-oh I did it again), one of my favorite things is the engine and exhaust noise in Forza, and I hoped that it was accurate, but I never really knew.

the news isn't good... Kaz even told that the classic tracks should be spected only on gt7 too

The problem isn't as much accuracy as they all sound the same in GT6. And what they sound like is if you forgot to shut off your shopvac.

PD has really been on a streak of bad moves of late. Its a shame GT series used to be one of the best and for some reason they cannot get with the times.

Huh, bummer. And Forza by comparison?

I think they might be a tad myopic is the problem. They are so focused on certain key aspects being perfect they are losing the whole.

I can't recall. I only played Forza 4 and remember it sounded and looked nice. I couldn't justify keeping a 360 for one game though.

I've got Horizon, and for the shit that it gets around here, it looks jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the cars sound intoxicating.

I think a lot of this has to do with the dev team. They are a family, and have been a unit since GT1 prior to 1998. Those are old dudes in a new-age realm. They can't keep up. PD needs to hire new muscle to get out the features they all envision, but never complete. Its unfortunately to remain this way, and I doubt GT will ever be back on top as it lags into mediocrity.

I agree. They need fresh blood and it has to be honestly European and American just to get some flavor from euro and American auto culture. I am always puzzled that PD goes to SEMA every year and yet American cars in the game have no realistic tuning options (IE no turbos, no displacement up etc)

I'll put it like this to make sure nothing interfered with the tyre noise, Turn 10 used a Tesla Roadster purely for tyre noise in locations all over the world, on a multitude of tyres and surfaces. Turn 10 take sound very seriously and have and most likely always will be the benchmark when it comes to video game car noise.

"I doubt that we'll be throwing away the standard cars,"

This small quote has killed Gran Turismo for me and what little respect I had left for Polyphony Digital.

People give Turn 10 Shit for only having 202 cars for Forza 5 but they did it for a reason and it is not to sell DLC as the internet says. They used a new method of producing cars that while takes a lot longer and is more expensive, only has to be done once. The result of this is cars can be properly exported to future games without looking out of place like the standard cars of GT.

I love racing games but GT is dying and it is killing me. GT was the game that really brought simulation racers to the masses and now it looks to die a slow painful death as it competitors really up their respective arsenals.
