I was in London this past Monday, wondering what to do with myself at the end of a little backpacking trip with friends. Their flights left the day before mine did, so I spent my day to myself wandering around the Hyde Park/Knightsbridge area, home of the famous Harrod's department store and playground of oil-rich hypercar owners.
On my way for an overpriced yogurt parfait from the Harrod's food court, I happened upon a rather brown Veyron sitting in front of the Knightsbridge Bulgari (Bvlgari?) Hotel. I said hi to it's driver, a really nice guy who was waiting by the car, carefully watching it and occasionally speaking into his earpiece. He explained that it was a Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Rembrandt edition — one of only three of this edition and — whose owner, his boss and the son of a Qatari prince or something, had taken delivery only eight days ago. He sensed my interest in cars and told me to stick around, because the "other car" was on the way — a McLaren P1. Of course. Obviously, you can't be flossin' hard in London if you only have one hypercar. The wait was certainly worth it...another driver pulled up in the yellow P1, and gingerly parked it behind the Bug while the hotel concierges held traffic.
Anyway, that's my quick CSB. I'll add some more photos to this post, including some better shots of the Veyron, but they're still on my camera right now.
I'll have to write about some of the cool, petrolicious moments from the trip, including stumbling on the start of the Modball Rally, fronted by LaFerrari and a Huayra no less, and a chance encounter with a bunch of mint, restored Jensen Interceptors out in the hills of the English countryside.

That's excellent! Visited for my first time within the last year and loved it. Saw my first MP4-12C (this was pre-P1) and some random Ferraris. That's a heck of a sighting there.

Oh, it's completely nuts. I was walking around that area the day before with a friend. I was kind of geeking out about the cars we saw (a Shelby Cobra Daytona replica, a Macca 650, more Astons and Bentleys than you could shake a stick at, if you were so inclined). I sensed that she was entertained by my fascination but didn't really care about cars, so I didn't want to go on about it. Soon, a stunning blue Enzo pulled up to a light. She noticed and asked what it was. "No idea".
