The ministry of transport of Quebec finally done something right!

Kinja'd!!!

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Under "Headlights, Lights and Reflectors" it says:

PROHIBITED

• Installing an HID headlight kit
- if the original sealed-beam headlight was not designed for that type of bulb

So if your car was not designed to have oem HIDs then you can't install a kit anymore! So no more people blinding you with their goddamn ghetto installed HID lights anymore in Quebec! I'm happy!

Fairly certain this is the case in my state, but people don't know/follow/enforce it.

I just wear my sunglasses at night.

What if the kit does the job properly? the OEM HIDs in my father's BMW are very good. They don't blind, and illuminate well, while the ones on the new Corolla are the opposite.

Here's a handy chart of legales for the US. My state has regulations on 'dazzling' lamps, the cop can arrest you and/or require replacement lamps within 24 to 48 hours.

http://traffic.findlaw.com/traffic-ticket…

It's full of stuff like this, though. Here's Hawaii's take on kit cars. Just because it's so convoluted.

"If a street rod replica vehicle was assembled from a manufactured kit as a complete kit to construct a new vehicle consisting of a prefabricated body and chassis, the year of the vehicle shall be the year the vehicle resembles as reflected on the manufacturer's certificate of origin.

If a street rod replica vehicle was assembled from a manufactured kit as components manufactured before 1968 or components manufactured after 1967 to resemble a vehicle manufactured before 1968, the year of the vehicle shall be the year the vehicle resembles as reflected on the manufacturer's certificate of origin.

The certificate of title for a street rod replica vehicle shall be for the make and year the vehicle resembles, and the body type of the vehicle shall be street rod vehicle replica."

As long as it was available OEM on the car. If the car never received HID lights at all from factory in other trims, then you can't install one. If it did, you can use a kit. I think you could switch the OEM stuff for a Aftermarket unit.

truth be told I have a drop in HID kit... They're aimed low but I know they're bad. But ironically enough I just baked apart a set of replacement headlights as to install a set of projectors.

At least you know and you think about the others. Most people don't know, don't think about the other and/or they just think about their vision on the road...

Exactly. Plus I went 6500k which is white with the slightest tinge of blue. All the time Im seeing Purple, Pink, Blue lights. You can't help but not look when someone blows by with Pink flipping headlights. That alone is a danger.

Also I think it's funny BMW HID's turn pink before the go bad though.

Any idea how it can be enforced? Would be great if we could submit the plate for a check.

"And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.'"

I think cops will do a massive raid on them. They always do when a new law shows up. This will take care of the problem.

Yeah, I have one on my Subie. I've never been flashed at, and I've driven behind friends and family with no issues. I'd say the Seven's 90mm projectors are more prone to being flashed at... I can't wait to see what happens with 40mm projectors.

Good news!

I expect that our fellow citizens will follow this law just as well as they do all the other driving/road/safety laws. In other words - don't expect anybody to give a shit about the laws, they'll just keep doing whatever it is they were doing before.

I started reading through the PDF you linked to and after the first page, I realized it was a futile effort without proper inspections and enforcement. I see violations of most of those rules nearly every time I'm behind the wheel.

At least we're trying, I guess?

Well cops here likes to get money out of the tuner cars so the problem will be fixed with ease IMO. Some people that don't know about the law and don't know the effects of having HIDs on reflector headlights will get ass raped out of ignorance.
