Well look what we have here. It's a Dodge Charger, and that's a pretty low price. The seller says it runs and the interior is there. The Charger apparently has a "383 v8 727 torque flight transmission" which is something outside of my car knowledge. Also, it's going to at least need to be repainted, and who knows what else doesn't work, because this is Craigslist. But it's $2,650, which is a pretty low price. So is this piece of American Muscle a Nice Price, or a Crack Pipe?

Hrm. Well, if it has a 383, someone that wasn't the factory put it there. I think by this point in time it was 400, and then maybe some sort of anemic choked 440 may have been an option. The body doesn't look awful, lord knows what the interior looks like, and if the trunk pans have started to go. This was the 3rd model year for this body style of Charger, and the 2nd model year for them to have not much power. But, at $2650...its a good start for a project. NP.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Depending on undercarriage rust this is a NP.

Very similar to my 73 except ive got the a904 trans and a 318.

Like quaterlifecrisis said the 383 wasn't an option stock although it most likely came with the 400 if someone swapped it to the 383 due to the factory stock mount locations.

Price is NP as long as the body work is ok (check door skins, rear quarters and trunk) and the interior is mostly intact.

yep you nailed this review.

if it's an 383 installed in someones garage I have a feeling the "not much power" year wouldn't be an issue, assuming they did a good job installing, you never know what you can inherit on an engine swap project.

Overall depending on interior/trunk I'm with you 100%

thanks.

I'm inclined to believe that whatever is under the good likely needs pulled and gone through. Just basing that on he exterior appearance of the car.

if you have the ability and knowledge it's definitely wise to go through it, even to just replaced gaskets etc.

True story. The fact is, the car is getting sold to 1 of 2 types of people. The Joe Deertay type, who will drive it as is, or someone who will build the car. One of those types of people will freshen up the driveline...the other...yeah.

Honestly if someone just rattle canned on or plastidipped it to a matte black it wouldn't look bad...but most importantly it would clean it up some. We're still assuming an interior and if it has one with a rattle can job it just looks like a typical hotrod. Which I'm cool with.
