I don't have a clue who made this, but what a poor ad. Not even a few details about the origin of the engine or the chassis. Oh, and your link doesn't work, this one should: http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/a…

It's a Dutton Phaeton. An excellent way to upset a UK Lotus/Caterham 7 owner is to ask if their car is a Dutton.

Thank you. I wonder what engine it has, it says only 48 hp, but that can be upgraded. I wrote the owner asking many questions about the car.

Possibly an 1198cc Ford Kent "crossflow" engine, but I'm no expert.

Wait a minute. The ad actually says 48kW, so about 64bhp. That will possibly make it a later 1.3 Ford Kent Crossflow (these cars were Ford-based, so a Ford engine is the most likely powerplant). Having said that, the ad states it's a 1.6, but I doubt that would have such a low power output, so one of the figures has to be wrong.

Damn, forgot about the kW thing. The add says the engine is 1596 cc, so a 1.6 liter engine. Just 64 hp? That's a pretty old engine. From what I have been researching now it seems it's a MG Midget engine, a Triumph 4 cylinder.

MG Midgets had Austin/Morris/BMC/British Leyland A-series engines, although none of them were 1.6 litres (maximum of 1275cc). I think he's either got his power output or his engine capacity wrong. Considering he hasn't even identified the kit in his ad, I doubt he's too worried about accuracy.

Yup. I hope to get an answer to the questions I asked the owner.

I could always buy this thing and put another engine in there. Ford Zetec, Toyota 4AGE, Saab B204...
