Buy a Merkur Scorpio.

I recently found a black 89 Scorpio on CL. It has a manual trans, 79,000 miles, and according to the it doesn't run because, as the owner wrote "I took the water pump off when I was converting it to an electric cooling fan.". I've always liked Merkur. Well at least since I heard of it. To me the Scorpio is everything Ford wanted the gen 1 Taurus to be but couldn't make it because it had to be more main stream. The ad doesn't mention price but i'd say 1-2,000.

These picks aren't from the ad they're from Google.

Not sure what spec was sold in US but we Europeans even got a Cosworth with a 24-valve V6 of it.

2.9l V6 144hp/165 lb/ft. 3241lb curb weight. Not bad for the 80's.

The Cosworth had a 2.9 24 valve with 195hb/203ft/lb. Even better fot the 80's.

Honestly it looks like something out of Robocop, or another near future 80s movie.
