Don't get me wrong, I like the G8 okay, and would love to have seen a wagon/pickup version. But!

The interior in those were beyond awful. The only new (at the time) car I have ever been in with a worse interior was the Dodge Journey. Every mean joke that Top Gear made about cheap plastic interiors could be applied to the G8. Now that we have the SS, they can make an El Camino and a Kingswood out of that. Trust me, it's better that way.

It never looked that bad to me honestly. It seemed like one of the better interiors GM was putting out.

That looks 1,000,000 better than any Chrysler vehicle's interior that was sold at that time.

But the SS interior is till way better.

There was a period between 2004-2009 when I'm fairly sure Chrysler and GM were competing to have the cheapest feeling interiors. It doesn't look awful, but trust me, it was about as tactile as a light socket.

GM shouldn't have killed Pontiac.

If I was in control of GM I would keep Buick as a upmarket Chevy, rebadge Opels as Saturns and rebadge Holdens as Pontiacs. (for the US) I know they started this but they really needed to start 10 years earlier and they could have avoided bankrupticy. If they had did this, they could have sold a stripped Astra sedan (or kept the Geo Prizm) for the Caviler buyer and sold the Astra Hatch as a Saturn

I've never understood why Pontiac or Saturn were closed. I see more late Saturns or Pontiacs than I do other GM brands that lived. They built the best cars GM was selling at the time.

we can via grey import, fucking expensive though. ~$100k or so for a 2012 SRT8. Same story for Mustangs: 2014 Shelby GT 500 for $175k

2015 Mustang will be factory delivered though. Probably for $35k and up.

When we were at the C/J/D dealer looking at that insanely overpriced Wrangler, they were clearing the lot of their last new 2013 Journeys. I seem to recall, with the rebate, the bottom line was like 18 grand or something.

Gotta grey import Vette's and Vipers too. Pretty much anything we have to import from the states is ridiculously expensive. Even Tundras are about $100k.

Last year of 'native' Holdens in Aus is 2016. It's no coincidence that the last year of the Chevy SS will also be 2016. The Commodore *was* the best selling car in Aus for a long time, but that spot was taken over by the Corolla many years ago.

If it had happened, I would own one by now. That is one of the few cars that I would "upgrade" for. And if Left Hand Utes keeps it up, I might still be able to someday.
