If I were to buy a cheap econohatch today... I'd get a Mirage and then hit up The Tire Rack for a set of 15s.. Then, AutoX Madness..

Either these, or a set of 15" BBS.

It's not nearly as fun as it should be.

These aren't really AS BAD as everyone is making them out to be. Around town, 80 horsepower is plenty.

But if he gets Suzuki Swift, that's a good and fun car.

The Swift isn't available in the US.

And this is? I thought we were making hypothetical choices.

Yes, it is.

Yea …. I'd get this. Even with 76k its still more car than that thing & will probably last longer.

Kinja'd!!!

Ohh and it doesn't have only 75hp.

Eh, I'm not so sure.. The S2K is awesome, but my Fiat has taught me that driving a slow car like a bat out of hell is a lot more fun.

It's not the power that's an issue - it just doesn't feel well put-together. There's a TON of body roll for something that small, the throttle response is terrible, the brakes are not great, and the cosmetic finish is lacking in places.

It's as well put together as a Mazda 2. The 2 just handles way better.

I haven't driven a 2 so I can't weigh in on that - I was just very let down by the Mirage in general.

If it had to be new, Id take the Nissan Micra over the Mirage

I don't think the Mirage is that bad at all. It does what it is meant to do, and comes decently equipped for the class/kind of car it is.

Can we stop comparing totally different cars?

I don't disagree that Id rather have an S2k, but they don't compare at all. For AutoX the S2k is better, obviously, but gas mileage? Cargo capacity? Not even close

OP didn't say anything about mileage or capacity (btw cars spend on average 75% of the time with one person in them). He said AutoX …. AutoX means S2k > Mirage.

If that other 25% is carrying 4 people or a full load of cargo, an S2k isn't enough.

He did say if he was to buy an econohatch, so that knocks out the S2k

Also, why buy that when you can have a Corvette?

I have nothing against #Murica. Also its worth noting that I did say "I'd get this", which is a fair statement.
