As inspired by CalzoneGolem looking for a truck. WTF Nissan?

What are you refering to?

It's more expensive than the automatic. Probably because not many choose it.

Notice how the transmission choice with extra electronics and gizmos is less expensive than putting in a clutch and shifter.
So either they have amazing economies of scale, or it's a desire to emulate the Porsche model of charging more for leaving things on the shelf at the factory.

I test drove a frontier Pro-4x. The manual is worth every penny. I almost bought it instead of a FiST for rallycross purposes. It would've been such a beast.

$1,210 premium for a manual. It used to be the cheaper option.

Considering it's possible to race even larger vehicles...
EDIT: My brain no work too well.

As an engineer explained on here before, it is just as hard to design a manual transmission for a modern car and make it all play nice as it is an automatic. The manual might cost less to make but if only 5% of all sales have it then the economies of scale are decidedly in the automatic's favor. And don't think manual transmissions are completely free of "electronics and gizmos" when you have things like no-lift shift programs that have to be calibrated to a given transmission or hill start/stop and traction/stability control that probably receive information based on the transmission's status too. Yes no electronics *control* the gear selection but the trans still has sensors and whatnot hooked up to it to feed information to the rest of the car.

Does this one make you feel better?
I don't know if they are mixing and matching equipment, or what, but different bases give different Auto/Manual prices. Some are better, some worse.
EDIT : Ok, the pictures may or may not be loading. S Crew Cab is $1,050 cheaper with a manual

Rallycross, not autocross. You can't autocross most pickups and you definitely can't autocross one with an off-road package. Too soft suspension and too much ride height. The tacoma X-runner and the colorado/canyon with I think the ZQ5 options are allowed.

As I said, my brain no work too well at 4:50PM on work days.
But if you are insane enough, you could autocross an F-150.

I said the autos have extra electronics and gizmos. Because the modern manual is gizmoed up compared to an old Series Land Rover (for instance).
I'm just the weird one as an American because 75% of my wheeled motorized vehicles are manual shift. To add insult here, the one that isn't, is my F-150.

That did indeed happen. Probably not something the SCCA sanctioned events will repeat in the near future. At least, not something they'll just let anyone do. Having seen a lifted blazer topple over at an unsanctioned autocross, I can't say I blame them.

Haven't owned an automatic here since 2012. An old Audi 200, a 90s jetta, and now a brand new Fiesta ST are my rides. Save the manuals.

If you are willing to give up iPod connectivity, an Aux-in, power door locks, power mirrors, and various factory-installed daubles and such for the pickup box, then sure. I'd totally agree.
If you want Just A Truck, with some seats and a steering wheel, shift it yourself is cheaper. If you want something that might be vaguely desirable with some goodies, then it's not.
Economies of scale...
