Pic 1 looks great.
Pic 2 is a travesty.

I want one. Decent mileage, cheap insurance, and it's a GM product so cheap parts.

I want a late model C4 that's been gone through and updated with modern suspension and drivetrain components. And perhaps a tastefully custom interior. The one in the first pic is real nice.

I've never really cared for them but I've seen a few show up at the autocrosses that were plenty fast.

Cheapest respectable sports car on the market right now that isn't a Miata. Just get a post -1992 model.

Agreed. That first photo is a great example of what makes a C4 look great.

I like them, cheap, easy to fix, tons of parts availability, huge following.

I'd love to get my hands on an LT4 grand sport. The LT1's where pretty got too. Good for 200k at least.

Had a '94 before I got my 02 c5z. Nice looking, but you're better of with a c5 even if it has another 75K miles on it. Superior build quality, rigidity, handling, power, and parts are still cheap. I got aggravated with the rattles, fixing interior stuff, the opti and lack of power...so moved into the C5 when it came into my price range. No regrets

The sills are ridiculous, making getting in the car a chore. The passenger side footwell is the size of a postage stamp. The car is terribly dated.
That being said, I would give my C6 up for a 93 40th Anniversary ZR1, or a 96 GS with red guts.

I've had (and have) both C4 and 5. The C4 seats are actually superior to the 5's-think jet fighter seats vs. the family couch. Do headers, get rid of the crappy and restrictive pre-cats, real duals with an x-pipe, and if you have to run cats, run something like Random-Teks. Convert the front calipers to C5 front brakes, add s/s brake hoses and a killer brake fluid like Motul 600, or it's like, and you've got brakes. Add big bars from Vansteel, and a set of Bilsteins, and you will handle like a superstar (assuming the front end is tight). Will it be a high-horse machine? Nope, but with the suspension and brake mods, you can use what power you have much more effectively. You can pick up some power with just bolt-on mods, especially on the intake, which was designed for a 5.0 (assuming TPI). The next level is where it gets pricey.
