Excluding the fact that they are legendarily unreliable, even by LR standards. Under the assumption that you are buying one under warranty, whaddaya think? Is it a compact Land Rover that's staying truer to its roots than the Evoque? Or is it simply for those who can't afford an Evoque?
Personally, I kind of like it. But Evoque.

I want to like it, but I have a soft spot for cars that shouldn't go off roading...going off road...I guess thats why I like the new jeeps so much? I would love to take one of these out on the trail. plus I6 (old model) and nice interior. Fun fact, I got close to buying a gen 1 freelander many moons ago (so glad I didn't)

Get out of my way, peasant. I have a warranty appointment at 10 and then I have to go meet the Queen for tea.

You're mistaking the LR2 with the Freelander. LR2 was a vast improvement over the Freelander. It's definitely got more usable space than the Evoque and a less "I wouldn't know an honest days work because I married a rich dude" feel to it. I just wish they came with low range.

They share many components. But then, these same components are also used across the Volvo lineup, so it hardly shows.

You're thinking of the Range Rover.

It was indeed a vast improvement. Is it reliable now? Only time will tell.

I said I was having tea with the Queen, I didn't say I was the Queen.

Indeed. BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan, even the Evoque, as I said. I can't understand why they make the Evoque but didn't kill this yet. They've sold like 12 this year.
The one car I would choose it over is a Mercedes GLK. I cannot remember the last time I was as underwhelmed by a car as when I sat in a GLK.

Forget even the luxury crossovers I'd take a ford Escape or an Edge. Fully loaded with the pano roof I'm sure it would still be cheaper

But it's still called a Freelander (if you're not American)!

Out of all the current lineup it has the least amount of issues.

I honestly have no idea if that Makes it reliable or not.
