Last night my wife and I were driving around Lake Minnetonka - in the far western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota - in our 1995 E320. It was the proverbial perfect summer night. We had all the window down, sunroof open, taking the long way around the lake to dinner in a little town called Wayzata, which is right on the lake shore itself.
Several times in my travels around this part of the metro, I've seen an adorable, above-driver-quality, powder blue MGA just like the one above. Usually I see it coming out of the same side street; last night was no different, as we passed it coming out of its road while on our way to eat. During dinner - out front on the restaurant's patio - we saw the MGA drive by again.
A couple of hours later, we left, again taking the long way around the lake. We pulled up to a stop light a little while later, maybe four cars back, in the left turn lane. Up ahead in our lane was the MGA again. "Neat!" I thought.
We stopped at a drive-up ATM in another small lake town called Excelsior. After, we wandered with the traffic through the town, until we got to a funky five-way intersection (stop signs all around). That's when traffic stopped, and people starting driving around the old Toyota Sienna minivan up ahead with its flashers on.
The Toyota Sienna that had just read-ended the poor little MGA.
The owner looked much calmer than I would have been. The damage didn't seem that bad driving by at 5 mph, but Christ on a cracker with dipping sauce, I would have likely been apoplectic, heading straight into plaid.

:( As a Minneapolis-based MGA owner (although mine is a very rough driver, bordering on basket-case), this gets me in the feels.
Thankfully, MGAs have an incredibly stiff chassis, and good-quality reproduction body panels are easy to come by, so the damage would be unlikely to be terminal, but still, it's a horrible thing to happen.

If you do this to a corolla, learn to stop texting while driving and make sure your insurance company reimburses the owner. If you do this to a rare(ish) and beautiful classic, that's akin to assassinating the president.
