In all seriousness though, as much shit as I give them, GM has brought us oldsmobile (probably the single most advanced automaker ever) and Cadillac (which, for some reason, I adore)

Is this the car of the Pimp, who's being hit hard by the recession?

Oldsmobile? What makes them most advanced?

Kinja'd!!!2

First export from the US, first speedometer, first car with chrome plating, first monoblock V8, first auto trans, first OHV V8 on a production car, first turbo passenger car, first mainstream american car with FWD (pre 80's, this was a big deal on luxury cars in the US), first car with an airbag, first american car company to hit 100 years old, first HUD, first Nav system/touchscreen, first car to have an in car concierge (GuideStar, pre courser to OnStar)

Basically everything in the modern car was done first by Olds.

We could get into GM's corporate politics and Oldsmobile's downfall, but, eh, thats another discussion for another day.

I had a boss back in the day that would get a new Caddy every 12 months. He got a white exterior, white interior and a white vinyl roof on every Caddy he bought.

The bustleback Caddy was the only one that didn't make it 12 months.......not sure how the deal panned out but the dealership probably didn't give him a lot of grief as he also bought a shitload of GMC vans and delivery trucks from the same dealership.....it was a pretty car though.

I would really like to have one of those bustlebacks...so unique looking. You say it's big...at the time people squawked it was small :) The first gen Sevilles were smaller...sold like crazy too.

I came so, so close to buying one as my second car in high school. The local Ford dealer had taken in one as a trade - 1985, fairly base model, light blue with a light blue velour interior and about 70,000 miles, this was actually sometime in 2002. Came to my senses and bought a Volvo instead, but from the test drive, I do remember the seats being probably the most comfortable things my butt had yet touched and the ride was magic carpet smooth.
