I'll be damned, I had no idea.

The only fun Cadillac fact I have is that the crest on their emblem is the family crest of the French Detroit family that settled in the area that became, shocker, Detroit. It has changed over the years (the loss of the ducks, for instance), but it still shares much of the original crest.

yeah I was watching Jay Lenos video about the Ferrari Barchetta that he gave to Henry Ford and it sent me off to wikipedia looking up all kinds of things.

Cadillac owes it's origins to Henry Leyland not Henry Ford who's visions of luxury are unremarkable at best.

The resources that Henry Ford used to start his first automobile company were liquidated and became Cadillac.

I know but Ford would never have actually built a Cadillac or Lincoln style luxury car. His cheapskate mentality would have led to building the Model T. He did great things for the car industry but the birth of Cadillac and Lincoln belong to Leyland. And the preservation of Lincoln belongs to Edsel Ford.

I never said Henry Ford started Cadillac. I said he started the company that would become Cadillac.
