Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I am now missing literally one of each thing.

Update: Now only one nut and one keeper. But looking closer at the nuts (pictured), they seem to have worn into a roundish triangle. Those might warrant replacing. Or are they supposed to be like that?

Gosh darn it. Any tips on what would be foremost in replacing on a rebuild on a budget?

I would find what you lost.

time to clean the garage and find those parts. They're likely all in opposite corners of the garage, as far away from where the box fell as it gets. Or they're in the box still. Or they're under the cars, or shelves. Don't forget to pump the dog's stomach and check the driveway around the garage as well.

If you have a drain, that's where they're at.

i would find/replace one of each.... especially but not limited to the bearing. But surely a valve and valve spring aren't lost. get a big magnet on a big stick and go hunting

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

That being said, it should be ok if you find your missing items, but remember that for however many miles before your engine was rebuilt, these parts have been operating and wearing against each-other in a very specific way. The rocker tip for cylinder #1 exhaust may not match exactly with the valvestem cap for cylineder #4 intake, etc. You might see some accelerated wear from putting these back out-of-order, but I doubt it will be anything significant.

I didn't replace anything for my rebuild, but I eventually installed some inexpensive roller-tipped rockers and pushrods from Comp Cams (Summit Racing). The original rockers were really noisy and at higher RPMs get a bit sloppy.

DON'T THROW THEM OUT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT!

They're locking nuts. Notice they don't just spin off? They are purposefully designed that way. You should see small triangles on the top of them. This is usually an indicator. If they do in-fact spin off you can usually crimp them with a set of channel locks.

how much was your set and what did you go with?

I've thought about this kind of upgrade for the montego.

Comp Cams kit for under $200 . I can't recall the exact size but you should be able to figure it out for your engineI had to get new pushrods as well (also by Comp Cams), but I don't recall the tip size or the length. You could just get a combo kit like this for $200 .

It says the ones you sent fit.

I added them to my wish list so when one day that I'm not broke I can make some upgrades lol.

Did you notice any performance gain with them?

Yup. Same with flat tappet lifters and pushrods. If it's a flat tappet cam and you mismatched the lifters it's all gonzo at this point.
