For my second car? I can't figure it out for myself. Below are questions I believe you'd ask, and my answers. All you have to do is match a car as best you can. Any help is appreciated.

Track day bro or track day no?

-Track day bro! Cones!

Winter beater or summer cruiser?

-Winter beater

Reliability: Land Rover or Toyota?

-I'd like it to be reliable!

Ease of maintenance: Allroad Quattro or anthing else?

-Anything else! Don't feel like disassembling half a car.

Cost?

-$4000 max.

What about practicality?

-I'd like it to be useful.

LEADING SUGGESTIONS:

Saab (any)

Subaru Impreza

FWD Hatch

Subaru 2.5RS? Don't know if you can get em for that cheap, though.

I love my miata and I drive it in the winter, I don't know how much others would love it in the winter.

AMC Eagle

You can get them in a number of body types - coupe, sedan, and wagon, but my favorite are the coupes. A friend of mine rallycrosses his eagle wagon.

I feel like knowing what your first car is is important.

Assuming it's a Mazda6 as your name implies, I'd be inclined to agree with the dude before me who suggested an Impreza. Dunno what those cost, but it seems like $4 should be a reasonable price for them.

These can be found pretty cheap these days. I'm honestly to the point where any fwd hatch you can get koni yellows and springs for, has a mt, sticky tires, and a good exhaust can be fun. I rode in an older Hyundai Accent at an autocross and it was way more fun than I expected.

I am going to go outside the box on this one. How about a Pontiac Firebird? 4th gen from 1993-2000, Cheap muscle and I would say fairly reliable. Can be used for track day or a daily beater. Parts and upgrades would probably be dirt cheap too.

Yeah it's not for everyone indeed in this case. You need to be brave enough to drive it without proper winter tires.

Yep, FWD hatch seems to fit Viggen's bill perfectly (unless he already has a Viggen!). I actually sold mine for exactly $4000 too. Miss the lightness, steering feel, and connect-ness that that car had.

And I bought this:

Anying Saab should be interesting. Fast VWs (VR6s) or cheap stick Audi A4s are also cool. Reliability-wise, It would be more appropriate a Japanese sporty car.

I had hankook's i-pike up front and some shitty winter tires in the rear. Lucky me, it was the end of winter. I'm getting brand new i-pike for the rear since they were great on the front. I could stop with no drama and right away, imagine with them in the rear too.

I was fine as long as there was no snow or ice on the pavement. It handled cold temperatures and rain pretty well but ANY snow and I spun out in the middle of a busy street.

Like I said, it depends. I don't wanna pay 30K...I'm not that rich lol. If it ends up at 16k like the NC I have, then i'll consider it.

That's for a fully loaded one with the PRHT like mine. You can get it even cheaper. I almost bought a 2006 Limited Edition in red for 9K but had 250000kms. I didn't buy it because there was stuff to repair and the high mileage. It had a 2012 engine in it installed by the Mazda dealership if I recall. Also when I drove it, I HATED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF IT. It almost made me put an X on NCs forever...until I drove mine.
